The old method of unlocking. This is the preferred method if you have a service cable.

Why is this the preferred method?

• Well, this method gets you the codes to unlock the phone, like how it should be done.
  
• If you reflash the MAIN, the unlock patch goes. You can repatch it though.

Hi,

Thought I would post another unlocking phone thread. This one is the W810 one. My other one is unlocking T630

A big big thank you to Obsy.

What you need:

• Service Cable (I've used a crusier cable which requires 3v supplied to it.)
  
• SEMCTool 8.4
  
• Magic W810 Firmware

Anything that goes wrong, your problem. But I'll try to help. Dont do this if you are not sure (but I done this with no problems). This also partly unbrands the phone AFAIK (nothing wrong with that, unless you have a clear reason not to)

1. Check that your service cable is working (drivers installed etc)
2. Flash the "Magic W810 Firmware" using XS++ (just the MAIN will do) and make sure the phone comes on as normal.
3. Run SEMCTool 8.4 and configure the port for your service cable,speed etc.
4. Take out the phone battery and connect the crusier cable.
5. Click Read All Codes + Do selected job.
6. Pop in the battery.
7. While reading codes; the computer will ask you to take out the battery etc twice. Do what it says.
8. At the point where you get the codes and the phone is safe to take out, take the phone out the crusier cable. Take out the battery and switch on the phone.

Entering the codes

Orange UK are sly about this part, with an Orange sim, the sim unlocking option will be disabled and hidden. So pop in another sim (If your network hides the option too,I used T-Mobile) and at the insert correct sim screen, follow these steps:

<=Joystick Left

1. Press <**<
2. Choose the part that is locked
3. Look at what it says e.g if it says NCK, then put the NCK code given to you by SEMCTool,

Done!

Make sure you update your firmware again.

Your first step says to flash the phone with main , then make sure phone runs as normal...So, we are to do a normal flash with XS++ first (with main only with sim and battery out) then put batt and sim back in and make sure it is working properly before proceeding to the next step with SEMC tool?

When you are flashing you need to keep the battery in but yes, after flashing; pop out the battery and put it back in and see if the phone simply comes on.

Flash with the latest (R4CK is quite old). The latest AFAIK is, R4EA031.

oopos...my phone currently has r4ea031....
so, step 1) flash w/ magic firm 800 main r4ck003..put battery back in make sure phone turns on after flash
step2) run SEMC84 (port settings? +battery in)
step 3 ) take out battery and connect cable
step 4 click read all codes and do select job
step 5) battery in
etc...
when done...flash in xs++ w/ r4EA031?

ok cool...i just wanted to make sure about the two different firmwares (the magic flash r4ck003) (and the r4ea031 new one at the end)...know where I can get the new one to download?(usa) I think I found it...I have a file i downloaded called: R4EA031_main_generic_HN.DVT

DVT files are for DaVinci (the pay service). I got my firmware from topsony but that was when I had download credits. Look around on the forum.

Thanks ..I am going to flash it tonight...
One last question..do I use the 4 in 1 cruiser cable for all flashing or do I use the DCU 60 cable for the first magic main flash and then cruiser cable for the semc 8.4 flash to read codes etc..?
took me awhile to figure out I had to set my com port to 4 and not usb for xs++ and SEMC 84...doh.

Hey Q:

I ran the xs++ and then the SEMC and got the codes! so far so good....

I only needed to unlock the NCk (network)

I ran xs++ to reflash with newer R4EA031 but during the test stage it showed the firmware as actually being r4EA031? is this normal or do I still need to flash firm again? The main I have in my folder that I downloaded is W810_R4EA031_main_generic_HN_red49.mbn

Now I just have to figure out which FS and CDA to use to unbrand this thing...THX

update: I downloaded FS file W810 R4EA031_FS_T_MOB_INT_B Red49. This will work with the W810_R4EA031_main_generic_HN_red49.mbn in xs++ with my dcu60 cable? guess I will also need to choose a generic CDA (maybe america2 102555/107) I couldn't find the 102555/15

Hey ,

You will still need to reflash the main to upgrade again, I believe XS++ gets the firmware info from the FS (or GDFS which uses the number of the FS). That FS file seems to be T-Mobile branded. Not really what you want .

This is unbranded America_2 FS: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XCNUXY2H , flash that FS instead with your USB cable and XS++
