Hi guys,

First off, this is not just your average EROM problem. I've had that, and fixed that. Now for the story:

I was bruteforcing my phone with PhoneXC when I got an unrelated BSOD. So I took out the DCU-60 cable, put SIM back in and all that, and I got a WSOD. So I figured there was something wrong with my MAIN firmware, so I reflashed it successfully. Now I can't even turn on the phone at all, when I plug the DCU-60 cable in it doesn't get recognized as a USB device, and when I plug in the charger I get a red light next to the IR port (not blinking, just on). When I plug DCU with 2+5 pressed I don't get anything either.

Now I figure I'm pretty much owned if I don't have a service cable. But even if I had one, what could I do? Also, does anyone even recognize this problem?

Okay, so I managed to get the phone to talk to me by taking out the battery, pressing 2+5, plugging DCU-60, and inserting the battery (in that exact order). WotanClient however tells me:
waiting...
phone found.
phone found at position 1
DB2020 detected

FC ID: 89 7E
connecting to server
connection OK
sending login
EROM: starting upgrade
EROM: done
ERROR:

Any clues?

EDIT1: Using the same procedure as above, but instead taking out the battery, holding C, plugging DCU-60, and inserting the battery, I can also get it to go in normal flash mode. However, trying to reflash main fails after about 17 flashblocks because the phone disconnects and the USB device disappears. I have now got it in the charger (with the scary red light showing behind the IR panel), in the hope that it might have run out of juice and will charge even though the firmware seems pretty dead.

EDIT2: Okay, after a few minutes of charging the phone booted up with a WSOD (by itself), and I was able to reflash main firmware. And that seemed to have un-bricked it. It now works again. I'll leave this thread here for other people to read so they know what to do if they have a seemingly dead phone with only a red light showing. I still think this was a really weird thing to happen O_o

On W800, the solid LED signifies no battery(not enough to support normal operation), assume this would be carried over to K800; sorry I couldn't access Se:nse when you actually had the problem!

OMG, I shuted down my phone, almost ready to make some modding to it .. and realized that the PhoneXS isn't recognizes it ... after a few tryouts, I remembered about this post ... I seem to have the same problem, the phone is dead, I took out the battery, pressed 2+5, plugged the DCU cable and the battery, the sound of USB appeared, the PhoneXS saw the phone, but I couldn't do anything, I pulled out the battery, kept the "C" pressed plugged the DCU cable again, then the battery but nothing .. now the phone is charging, but I already charged it to 100% b4 the modding .. still dead with no red LED on .. it's turning on only when I plug the charger in ... damn .. something is very wrong .. what now?

Here's what the Log says:

Quote

01:01:13| PORT STATUS: ACTIVE
01:01:13| DBID: 9900 (db2020)
01:01:13| proto: 3.1
01:01:47| Sorry, your phone is NOT SUPPORTED
01:01:47| +++ Sendinging shutdown signal to phone...
01:01:49| Shutting down...

why is he saying that it's not supported?! because I don't have a brown one .. I actually flashed the phone with the R1ED001 FW/FS and cust packs available for it ... not good not good :|

EDIT: apparently if I plug it with the C pressed - DCU then the battery .. nothing happens, but when I stop the PhoneXS, it says the sam thing .. Brown phones not supported ... odd

EDIT2: I tried to install the USB drivers again, only that the phone won't stay plugged too much ... the D/C sound appears .. but if in PhoneXS it stays longer, until I unplug the cable .. if only I could do something, but PhoneXS doesn't let me do anything, only to close the program :(

EDIT3: @muf . what is WSOD? I noticed, that, when I plug the phone on the charger, the LED near the IR is blinking a few times, then turns off .. I'm downloading SEUS but I don't think I will do anything with it :| .... any ideas are welcome ... SE hasn't got any Master Reset from keys or something like that?

EDIT4: I tryed with SEUS, since that software has automatically upload, I tried to foul it with 2+5 pressed instead of "C", it started .. but it didn't detect anything ... I'm toasted .. will I be able to save the phone? I think I'm going to let it on charging until the morning, and see if I can do anything ... my poor k800 :(

LED blinking indicates EROM problem. DaVinci, Wotan, or Kulankendi can fix this, there are plently of threads on EROM problems, this has happened since K750. Hope this helps......

Are you an angel from up above?! :D ... only that the blinking isn't continuous, it makes a few times, then stops. Wotan, DaVinci supports phones from Romania, AFAIK they need payment ...

I'm no angel, I'm just Aware.... ^-^

Right, you do have to purchase a credit to use DaVinci/Wotan, yes. However.......you only need the credit to allow the apps to work correctly, and the EROM update doesn't actually take the credit you bought(it's a free service, at least for DaVinci(done it myself - took 0.49 seconds to update)), so you can save it for a flash, unlock or whatever. You only have to purchase it because the apps connect to a remote server, which only authorises operations for accounts with a positive amount of credits.

^-^

aham, I just checked the DaVinci forum, and I understand my situation. Apparently, updating via SEUS, won't make an full update, I mean that it will update only the Main Firmware, not also the EROM. so to anybody who is updating FW via SEUS, be careful, just update the EROM to avoid phone crash after a while. although I reflashed my phone via PhoneXS with the files from topsony.com, and followed the exact procedure as the guide .. but still damage can take place :) .. so now, I wait for an reply from DaVinci, and prepare for some money send :p. Thank you Aware, you opened my eyes, and chilled me a bit :) also thnx to muf for sharing his experience, by opening this thread. This thread is good for any new crashed k800 users .. but let's hope there won't be one after me :good:

Ho! Wait! You don't need credits to do an EROM upgrade using WotanServer! I'll copy/paste from a post I wrote on Esato (it's a bit in n00b language but that's just to make it clearer):

mf on Esato forums said:

Get the USB Flash driver (USB_flash.rar)

Get WotanClient (www.wotanserver.com)

Do not register, buy credits, or fill in login details. Leave username/password blank.

Press and hold the TWO and FIVE (2 and 5) buttons on the numeric keypad on your phone simultaneously and connect the DCU-60 (USB to SE fastport) cable to your phone. Do not let go of the 2 and 5 buttons.

If the USB Flash driver is not yet installed, you will get a new hardware dialog from windows. Point it to the ggsemc.inf file you downloaded.

When the driver installed successfully, press the Start button in WotanClient.

The log should read:
waiting...
phone found.
phone found at position 1
DB2020 detected
LOADER: OK
060712 1258 ALU4_CXC1329130_DB2020_SEMC_CERTLOADER_P3G
FC ID: 89 7E
connecting to server
connection OK
sending login
EROM: starting upgrade
EROM: done
Now disconnect phone and remove battery for a while.
 == FINISHED OK ==
Duration: 00:04

Remove the battery for a minute or two. Reinsert battery and turn on phone. Enjoy your repaired EROM :).

It would be a shame if you spent money on a simple EROM upgrade :) The info on how to do this is also in another thread on se-nse, but I can't find it at the moment.

Also, be very careful with SEUS! I see you mention using SEUS, but right now that upgrades your k800 to CID51. I don't know if you know that yet, but for now only use 3rd party tools to flash your phone, not SEUS.

pff, you are the best muf! I'm downloading the client now, and soon put my phone to "work" .. I sure hope it will work .. relax, I won't update via seus because I don't want a CID51 phone yet .. are you kidding me, I still want to modd the phone :D .. upper it was just a warning for SEUS users ... that it want update EROM ... so wish me luck, I'll be back with news :D

It works! thank you muf! very much
the new EROM is: R3A016

Some moderator should put the quote from muf's post to his first post, so troubled users could easily find the answer to their questions. On the davinci forums, I saw a lot of k800i users, with crashed EROM ... so we should be careful with k800i flashing for the future ..

@muf, did you had problems with your phone since EROM crash?

Sometimes I get "Operation Failed" when I try to open one of the Java folders (Games/Applications), but I doubt that is related  Aside from that, no problems at all really.. I even noticed that R1ED001 is now able to view my high bitrate mp4 videos that I encoded earlier without stuttering, even though the phone would choke on them with R1CB001.

That's a good thing to hear :) .. I also have R1ED001 as firmware .. I think it's kinda the best for k800i .. for now, that is. Have you made any progress with your menu, I know it's not the right place to ask, but since I didn't seen you active to that thread, I mind ask you here :)

i searched hours to find a solution to this after a firmware upgrade and am absolutaly ecstatic that my k800i turned back on!
atm i am waiting for a 'please wait' screen to finish (without any backlight) but it seems normal so i'll wait til it finishes before i touch it.
also found the same info at http://www.mobilevik...sson-K800i.aspx
