First off: :newhere:
Hi guys, great forum you`ve got going here. Ive been reading it for a while, but now it was time for me to register :good:

Down to business:
A while ago I was playing around with some flashing with good luck. It`s been a while and I think it`s time for an upgrade of my k750i. What I remember from last time was flashing resulted in the loss of all my spelled words (you know: writing an sms, the built in dictionary is always inadequate, so you spell the word instead) and my calendar entries..

I`m used to using FAR-manager and was wondering what files I could extract from my FS before flashing to keep all my spelled words (quite a few by now) and calendar entries..

I`we tried searching but the limitation of my English seems to restrict the results..

Hi again guys!

Over one year later  And I'm still interested in information regarding this..
Any chance that time has helped some of you realize what files contains this information?

I seriously doubt there's a patch for that..

The thing is that I'm switching from my old K750 to a newer one and I would like to bring with me my dictionary, possibly also all my settings. I find annoying to have to set up the phone all over again. And the built-in dictionary doesn't know half the words I use, resulting in me spelling and spelling every time I write a new message..

The guy wants to flash a new firmware without losing his spelt words. I'm not sure where in the FS these would be, if they're even in the FS at all. These kind of things, my best bet would be the GDFS, coz on most phones, you find settings, contacts, notes etc ALL in GDFS. You might wanna explore your FS to see if you can find a list
Good luck :)

Thanks for the reply hippy dave,

actually I think the file is called "wdb.t9". I have no "user.t9", but Google told me its stored in "wdb.t9". I haven't verified this yet, but I will post back when I have.

While exploring my file system I also found that the wap profiles are stored in "/system/wap/profile", but thats probably old new to you guys..

@eng'g boy: thanks for the patch, wish I had this when I first started filling up my dictionary. Theres no way I'm going to that. But If I have no luck with the dictionary I might as well include this patch.

Thanks,
I'll probably just restore contacts and calendar via MyPhoneExplorer (from Gmail and Google calendar). But as we're on the subject, is there a "GDFS reader" or "GDFS file extractor"?

I can now happily confirm that the spelled word are located in the file "wdb.t9" in "/tpa/preset/system/language/". This applies to SE K750i, dunno bout others :)

XS++ or SeTool reads GDFS and makes backups ;)
Thanks for the info :) I guess that should apply to K750/W700/W800

Yes, I know. I used XS++ to back it up. What I meant was a kind of GDFS "injector" and/or "extractor". A program allowing me to extract and inject files from/to the GDFS.. As the calendar info (and various other info) exists in the GDFS it would be feasable to be able to extract/inject content..

AFAIK, the words on k750 are stored in a file called wdb.t9.
i know caz i hated to reinsert all the words again into my cell after a reflash.

if you look for wdb.t9 file with far manager, just copy it to your hdd and open it with notepad, you'll see all of the words that you've added to it.

dont change anything in the file though as it'll be corrupted then.
just keep it for backup purposes.

i.e. when about to flash, just copy the wdb.t9 file from your cell.
save it...
reflash the new main/fs
copy back the old wdb.t9 from pc to cell.
thats it... and if you use the DOUBLE YOUR Dictionary storage space patch (posted above) i guess your old wdb.t9 backup file from pc wont be usable PLUS you'll lose allt he words in the dictionary and will have to start from square one (although its cool that one gets double the storage space for words now)

cheers
