The Xperia S' whitepaper says it's an "Embedded Battery". And yes, it really has an embedded battery; that means you cannot remove it or use a spare one. It is one of the undesirable factors that repulses users from choosing Xperia S despite its excellent camera and the gorgeous design. People who really like to have higher capacity third-party batteries to pro long the battery life of this HD display smartphone are highly disappointed by the fact that it packs a non removable battery.

Anyway, to those who are really fascinated by the smartphone but doubting to buy it just because of its embedded battery, here is some good news for you. It seems the battery is not that embedded as it says! If you can remove the screws on the back cover (including a few torx screws) and then you can open the chassis and access the battery.

Here's a video depicting how to do it. ( It seems the user had already removed the screws and it is not shown in the video). Now it means that the battery can be removed if you really need to but it has the tiring process of removing the screws and replacing it each time you need to do it.

Why sony makes nfc enabled mobiles? Even though nfc is secured, we cant transfer large files using nfc. And what about Bluetooth 4.0? Does sony have any idea to make a phone with BT 4.0?

No, there's a button combination which reboots the phone.

No, there's a button combination which reboots the phone.

Volume Up + POWER (for 10 seconds) -> resets the battery, its like removing the battery and putting it back in [device will vibrate once]

Volume Up + POWER (for additional 5 seconds, total 15 seconds) -> will power off hard, device will power down [device will vibrate thrice]

This is 10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power of will, 5% pleasure, 50% pain.
And a 100% reason to remember the name!

so there are actually 3rd party batteries with higher capacity? afaik, all of the replacement are crappy as hell, no matter how big number of mAh it's said to have.

There are 3rd party solutions but I've not tried it personally. I've seen a video of a guy installing a higher capacity battery on his Xperia pro. Don't know whether it actually increases the battery life or it destroys the main board but I'm sure there are users who are not satisfied with the default one and look for alternatives.
