Play.com has delayed the release of the device which was previously decided to be on 30 January and the new date is scheduled to be 13 February. Another retailer, Clove confirms their release date to be in the first week of March with the stocks arriving on 6th or 7th March; that is just after the MWC 2012.

Xperia S

The phone will run on Android 2.3 initially and will be upgraded to ICS later.

Its no surprise that this phone got delayed, now we have got used to these delays from SE/SONY. SONY should pick up the pace and bring quadcore phones in this time if it wants to grab some market share.

So, the majority buyers choose high end smartphones?! I don't  think so.

@neofactor: You are right not everyone goes for the high end smartphones. But these kind of delays have seriously made dent to the SE's market share in past.

And yes there are rumours that HTC and Samsung will be launching quadcore phones this year, so I think SONY should lead with the initiative and not just sit back and follow the trend. I think Sony is a company which has all that it takes to be a trend setter.

I have a request to the writer of this article to do a comparison between the two GPUs if possible, the Adreno 220 (used in Xperia S) and Mali 400 (used by samsumg). WHich one is better??
