I'm finally gonna buy an android phone now! :) my requirements in the phone are big screen nd 1ghz processor. I like the samsung galaxy s i9000 especially for its 4 inch super amoled screen but its about more than a year since this phone released, is there any new phone of any brand and of same category good enough to beat this phone?

Hmm i don't like the ray coz its too narrow i lik a big and broad phone, and the arc is pretty good but much more expensive than the galaxy s, and besides super amoled is proven to beat iphones retina display nd is much better than bravia engine definately

The thing is my budget is only rs15000 and i'm able to get galaxy s for a pretty cheap price, the arc's price is rs24000 and the dual core would be rs30000 atleast

Proven by who?
Beat it in what exactly?

It's good if you like screen with over saturated colors, which feel so unnatural. At least to me and to some people.

This is 10% luck, 20% skill, 15% concentrated power of will, 5% pleasure, 50% pain.

In that budget the best that sony ericsson can offer till now is 'Xperia mini pro" which have a physical keyboard. Or the 'Xperia Mini'.
If however you could extend your budget to around 20K then you can get 'Xperia Pro' which have got everything that you can expect from a 'Smart phone' along with a physical keyboard. Or if you are interested in gaming then you can also look at 'Xperia Play' which at present you can get for less than 20k.

Both the iphone 4 and galaxy s display is compared on gsmarena and the galaxy s display is rated better so its proven better there. And i'm going for the galaxy itself my friend has got an 8 month old one maintained very well. He's sellin it for INR11k, seems lik a good offer to me right?

good offer, but still think abot mini pro coz its getting ics and semc rom is best looking rom on this planet, and bravia engine is not a harware component, it is a software which controls colour and brightness. if you want oversaturated colurs like samsung, simply disable it in settings ;)

I don't really like sony ericsson android phones, except for arc. But the advantages of galaxy over mini pro i can say is 1) bigger screen
2) bigger screen resolution and pixel density
3) talk time of 13 hours vs 5 hours of mini pro
4) PowerVR SGX540 GPU which is the same one used in the new motorola droid razr
5)720p HD recording at 30FPS over mini pro's 24FPS
6) bluetooth 3.0
7) swype text input
8) galaxy s is also gonna get ics update :)

Not possible, sony ericsson is pretty expensive, and this is a keyboard phone, it should be 16k minimum
