Rumor on the upcoming Sony Ericsson K620i appear on the net, which is a upgrade version of K610i. Other than the 3.2 megapixel camera and 100Mb internal memory, it is actually similar to K610i in terms of body design.

can anyone confirm?

If you mean "can anyone confirm" such rumours, I certainly can confirm such rumours exist, as my ears have heard of very such rumours. If the content of such rumours are correct as such, I can not confirm or deny said information at this time. This does not mean that they are correct or indeed incorrect, but just that such rumours exist.

I hope this clears up any confusion you may have had on the matter :)

Yes and no. ;)

edit: Dyce9984 was faster... One hint was "look at the reflection". It clearly reads K610i :bad:

Nah, they've never released models that are that similar with hardware differences before.

I'd say no.

If some of SE's recent handsets are anything to go by this certainly sounds plausible.

Look at the reflection scots, it clearly says K610i.
But then again this might just be a mockup with the real deal still on the way :S

I hate to sound like such a noob, but what is up with their numbering scheme? How can the 610i>700i? Am I missing something? The K700i has a basic VGA camera, while the K610i has 2MP! What's up?

I don't think that the numbering system is totally reflective of which phone is better than which. It's more divided into types. K700 and above are flagship phones. The K6xx series is small 3G phones and the K5xx series are for mid range phones.

Least it isn't half as confusing as Samsung's! They've got no coherency. And Nokia is starting to lose catchy 4 number combinations. 6233 is a bit of a mouthful.

"How can the 610i>700i?"

Purely on the fact that the K610 evolves the K600(3G series), not the K700......
(See Shaliron's post above, also)

Another thought: Going on the past, wouldn't a 610 evolution = 630, a la T-series??

^-^

Why not ?
We all wondered when the famous W800 upgraded to W810
so maybe this PHOTOSHOPED image would be something else in real
as specifications matter . it is a great upgrade to substute the K800 place because the K850 would have 5 MP
but would it lack autofocus as it was in K610 ? would it carry CYBER-SHOT brand ?
I think it is true , and it might carry this mystic blue color individualy :)

Except there is already a 630... the Voda one?
V630, having a K630 would be very confusing for developers.

I think I get it a bit better now. There are K6xx phones, in one series and K7xx in another series. And, by numbering alone, they can only be compared within their own series. Thanks! K8/K6=3G. K5/K7=Non-3G. Odd is non-3G, while even is 3G. We'll see if this still works with the K9 series, but I have a feeling they will be 3G.

That is why the K790a, while nearly identical to the K800i, is in the K7xx series and not a "K800a" phone.
