Please tell me how apply the patches that have the modded icons for my brown w580(db2020). I've seen i some other tutorials that i have to use gfx.ini and apply heap shift and sysgfx patch first. what is sys gfx patch?

Any vkp patches can be flashed in bflash of DB2020 script, including gfx patches made with Imgtool. Sysgfx patch is a patch that allows the replacement of images by loading them from a folder in file system.

So if i take any random gfx patch made for w580i - R8BE001 and drag it onto bflash the icons will change. Nothing else is required.

Correct, but remember it's always best to make your own patches with Imgtool as vkps made by others may use the same donor images which will result in a mismatch warning.
