Okay. I don't personally have an x8 but will have one soon. Here's the thing, i read a lot of forums, saw the various roms and now here's what i want to know... If i just stick to se's 2.1, can i have just the theme of the phone changed to my preference? I don't like the blueish theme that's in the stock rom. I like the gingerbread black or some other which i haven't really decided, but in real search of... and how can i install it without a custom rom flashed to the phone? What's the procedure.? Any one to help me with this? :)

you just have to download the launcher that allows to change themes. I think ADWLauncher will do.

You can theme the layout and icons that depend on the launcher you're using. You cannot however, modify the settings menu or any other menu for that matter without rooting. So basically this means you can change the homescreen and the app drawer, but not the rest (unless you use alternative apps for music, messaging, etc.).

So, the launcher is more than an app? I though it's something only like a deskbar xD

nope, launcher for example can change your homescreen's look and add new functions, like creating folders etc. and from what I heard LauncherPro increases touch screen's responsiveness a bit.

So i guess, if i root the phone and replace the framework-res.apk i can make a change everywhere, ie, messaging, settings,?

The ROM needs to be deodexed otherwise you can get force closes.

Hmmm... I want everything in my phone to work ie, the wifi, camera, bluetooth and all. That's the main reason why i stick to se's rom., but need to make some  modifications like i said. Well, that's it.
