1. Part which loads main firmware at startup/allows firmware to be flashed
2. Allowing to flash unsigned images to the phone
3. Allowing to flash unsigned images to the phone
4. Admin access to the phone. Read/Write permission to the system partition
5. Yes
6. It does because you can't lock the bootloader after :).

1. Yes
2. Theoretically, but nobody has made a recovery for arc so unlocking the bootloader is the only way right now.

1. Probably not (not sure)
2. What do you mean by benefits??? Isn't it cool enough to have multiple OS in your phone (WP7, Android etc). Plus, custom ROMs created by developers have other cool features similar to what we can use by patching our SE phones and using ELFs.

I guess that's what I meant. And btw, aren't custom ROMs enough for you that you also want to use Rooms? (kidding)

Hey Lolly, can't we boot ROMs from the card in phones other than HD2?

We can boot ROMs from card, but not Windows Mobile/WP7. We can boot linux/Android (not sure if that will work on arc though).

custom rooms.......oh typing mistake...........
so custom roms are modified roms with extra features put in by developers

Also are custom roms available for arc?
how does they break the phone?

No custom ROMs are available for Arc yet. Arc is not a very popular device IMO.

Simply ask if u should buy the phone or not! And I suggest you do buy it and get a hang of its cool features and during that time, quite a few customizations will have been made.
