OK, firstly the default browser is actually not bad at all and it renders things better than Opera.
As for alternatives, there are quite a few!
Opera Mini which is very fast and syncs bookmarks with Opera on your PC but has difficulty rendering some sites.
Opera Mobile which is virtually identical to Mini except it is nearly 10x bigger and a hell of a lot slower but does at least load full web pages by default instead of always going to mobile versions.
Dolphin Browser | Dolphin Browser HD
Skyfire Browser which has the interesting ability to play flash videos without flash
Firefox Mobile

Firefox is available for Android users. It is a good browser for android users.
