The effort required to make an iPhone do things that Android allows WITH A WARRANTY is not a great basis for arguement.

Okey this talk about warranty all the time sucks..

If the iPhone is dead and you can't start it or fix it with iTunes using DFU mode, Service center won't succeed either, they'll just give you a new one (own experience).

If you can start it and leave it jailbroken, then you're just plain stupid (like me :p ). Always do a restore before leaving it to service, however service centers don't always mind the jailbreak. I left mine jailbroken when my speakers was broken and got a new one.

In other words, as long as you restore before leaving for warranty you're safe. This also goes for Sony Ericsson, i've left phones running Elves and patches without trouble.

that deppens alot on where you buy it!
where i bought my k810 , they wont take the phone if it is modded or something like that!
but where i bought my Galaxy they dont care , they just take it and repair it , but the phones cost a litel more there! :p

But for iPhone, the Service center can't do more than try DFU to start the phone and if the phone is completly dead even in DFU they don't bother.. and if phone starts do a restore :p

For Sony Ericsson use SEUS before leaving it in :p

One of my friends has a iPhone 3GS, we made some compares and I think Android is better. Even with Android 1.6 my X10 opened websites faster and with 2.1 it's even faster etc. When we made the compare we both had EDGE, so it was fair.
But I think he has running iOS 3.3 on his 3GS, so it's a bit unfair, isn't it?
Maybe he'll update it soon to the latest unlockable iOS, then the compare would be fairer.

But everyone has to make his own joice, some like iOS, some Android.

Mentioning the warranty is just to convey that an Android phone can remain untouched but still allow you all the freedom that you have to hack into the iPhone just to get near.

I find persistent "iPhone is better" comments just as irritating to be fair as the whole thing is subjective ;)
There are areas where each OS has an advantage, iOS does tend to receive exaggerated and at times undue praise though leading to the infuriating and blinkered opinions of it's followers.

Yeah as you said, the thing is subjective. I just dont get why you say untouched Android is better than Jailbroken iOS when every Android user needs a rooted phone.

There is no iOS 3.3.

You don't need root unless you want to fiddle with the system e.g. removing stock apps or installing custom ROMs.

Once we made a compare when my X10 was running at 576MHz and mine opened sites still faster I think.

Another comparison point is scrolling, I'd bet that iPhone 4 (with iOS) scrolling is much smoother than the X10s. My HTC Desire doesn't scroll smoothly (with the stock HTC browser) on sites like :sense:, while my fathers iPhone 4 does (with the stock browser, Safari).
Same result when comparing Samsung Galaxy Tab and iPad in scrolling, the Galaxy Tab is horrible!

Well, getting an iPhone starts to make sense now.

Anyways, as Mik said earlier, each OS has it's own pro's and con's. I think, that Android is better, considering that it's open-source, it has a lot more potential. My 600 MHz LG, runs very smooth too. My friend who is using an iPhone, reboots it's phone very often. And once, the iPhone of a classmate (we got 3 iPhones and 1 Android in my class) froze with the screen on, and she couldn't do anything with it, until it discharged. It didn't respond to anything.

I would find it interesting, to have iOS on a Android. Wonder how it would perform? :-?

LOL @ all the bickering.

All i have to say is remember, Android OS isnt designed to run on an iPhone. Many said it was /never/ possible yet the devs slaved at it and it was done. There is a lot runnning in the background just to have it running and lots more to be done to it. It should be soon though that we will see Android on A4's but again, iOS is better on an iPhone.

If you want to turn your iDevice into a nice heating element be my guest.
