I've had problems with my joystick as well..still has.
I found that moving the joystick round in circles can make it stop, you know, exercise it around.
It works for me, but I know many people has problems with k750's joystick..

try it :)

Can't i fix it? I find it very stupid to pay 300,00€ for a phone and then 10 months later it's not working well...

Many people have had joystick problems, it is a common fault caused by tiny bits of dust getting inside the joystick module. It is possible that the "exercise" dislodges the dust and frees it up for a while but unfortunatley there is no real fix or way to clean it out properly as it is a sealed unit (obviously not sealed well enough) ;)

You can replace the whole joystick unit but it is quite a job, I think it may even require some soldering.

If I was you I woud try to get it repaired under warranty and don't mention the f/w flash ;)

PS- Moved to Hardware section

Can't you just pop the phone open and clean it out then? Many people have had good luck with using a vacuum on it or a pressurized air canister.

You can pop the phone open yes but then the joystick is a sealed unit which you cannot dismantle (apart from the plastic cosmetic top) and so you cannot really clean it out.

A vacuum may get a little dust out but I don't see it working entirely

Hi there, U CAN repair your joystick
Open up your fone untill you access joystick
then use wd40 or any other carbon removal spray
then dry the joystick with oxygen(Not with air cuz air has water in it) properly
Re-Assemble and you are done.

I'd done it with my w800i

I wouldn't recommend using WD-40 as this is a cleaning oil. It will clean it but it will attract dust even more.

Use Isopropyl Alcohol instead as this will clean and then evaporate. You can get this in a can with a straw(like WD-40) and spray the exposed joystick switch(sparingly). try and push the switch to one side as you do i to create a gap and then wiggle the switch in all directions(best in a circlular motion)

This worked for me!

And as a preventaive measure i now repeat the circular motion( about 10 times in each direction) once a week.

No Joystick problems now!

Is that why Sony Ericsson are now making D-pads instead of joysticks on never phones? But I would imagine it would be hard to play Super Real Tennis!

I've had great success using contact cleaner...open up the front of the phone..remove the LCD screen, key pad and main board...squirt contact cleaner into the top of the joystick and then move it around to clean up the contacts and its all sorted. (Avoid getting contact cleaner on edges of the LCD.)

CRC 2-26....Not spraybox, but liquid..
NB...First of all..Clean and remove dust around the joystick pin...
A couple of drops on the joystick pin, wait until it penetrate and get inside the joystick, rotate the joystick pin around for a while, wait 1/2 an hour repeat...

I revived a complete dead joystick this way..Now it's good as new..

Couldnt you use those cans of CO2 sold in shops like jesspos for cleaning camera lenses but just aim it around the base and sort of into it? I found that movingit in circles works temperaryly but it dosent take long to stop working again.

The reason I used CRC 2-26, I have a can of it at work...It's ideal for this use since it improves electrical properties.. http://www.crcind.co...26?openDocument

It has only been a couple of days since I "repaired" it, if it's temporararyly, well I just have to wait and see...Still the joystoick works like a charm, and as I wrote, it was completly dead..

Ahh that gave me an idea, i got some stuff called electrclean, tis in an aerosol can like that and you can spray it onto circuits and it cleans up the contacts then evaporates so i guess that might work.

Are you sure? lubricants shouldn't make a differance, if anything they will make dust stick more, the dust gets stops the electrical contacts meeting so surly all you have to do is dispell the dust

I use Servisol super 10 switch contact cleaning lubricant...you can get it at Maplins or off ebay for about £4 delivered. Just cleaned up two more k750is with dodgy joysticks and both now work a treat.

Ok, thanks for that tip.

As I mentioned before ..you don't want to get any cleaning fluid anywhere near the bottom of the LCD screen where the ribbon enters it as it can seep in and leave a visible "stain" in the screen.
