The only reason I am seeking to modify my camera's driver is the following problem: When I go to press the button to take the picture there is a delay and many times my subject moves to a less desirable position. What I would like is for what is on the screen to be captured immediately upon pressing the capture button. Is this even possible? I am trying to think of what my camera is thinking about during these few moments. Maybe the image data is only being sent to my screen and it only starts considering it as a still image upon pressing the button.

I think about the portable CD players who read ahead by a few seconds so that if the signal skips you won't hear it. For my camera, maybe the raw data can be buffered so that when the "capture" button is pressed it retroactively goes back and captures at the moment I pressed...

I don't know... any thoughts?

It's 'thinking' so long because the pictures must be exposured right. I guess if it was capturing photos immediately, the picture would be too dark :)
