Greetings all.

After much strife and confusion with the attainability of software and the availability of decent documentation. I resorted to try and flash my K750i in order to de-brand it. The tools of choice (the tools I have), are: Sonics and SeTool (using my Cruiser cable). I attempt to flash the new firmware and low and behold: error. I unplug and remove battery, re-insert, attempt to turn on, and voila! The infra-red port flashes a red light a few times and the screen flicks white and then nothing more.

I then follow some instructions about how to recover the unit after such an occassion. Firstly using the Soncis to recover the CID.... then using the SeTool, to flash it with a brown firmware -> change to red... add the new firmware and then add the GDFS... all of which I did to the word.

The phone is completely non-responsive now. It is late, I'm tired and fed up of trying, and fed up of trying to find documentation that is usefull about this matter.

Is there any redemption for this phone?

I just spent £70 on it... I'd rather this wasn't in vain.

Did you follow this guide? http://www.se-tool.n...parar_phone.asp

But someone may buy it for much less for spare parts or something. You have a service cable and it seems like you tried everything.

@a-v0id

:welcome:

If you are going to bugger your handset up at least you did it with style! :p

I don't think a firmware problem is unresolvable, I'm sure one of the bright chaps here can soon sort you out if the advice above hasn't already. :)

The battery was at 100% when I started. This morning after leaving it all night battery out of the housing. I put it back together and tried the power button. I got the red flashing light at the infra-red port followed by the screen flicker. I tried doing the same process again to recover it, and got back to the same non-responsive state. I've again taken the battery out and left it a few hours.

Any ideas?

qwerty12, yes it was that guide. If I do that process, should I disconnect cable and/or remove battery at any stage of that? (obviously after say changing the CID) Should it be done all without disconnections/battery removals?

*Edit*

Just given it another go in SeTool and after trying to flash the new firmware I got the error message window: "Card Protection Error", also I'm noticing that it seems to be sticking to Brown, when originally it was Red

I have since noticed that the battery that was 100% when I started, is now not working (by means of testing on my other k750i), I have since swapped batteries and whilst the other k750i battery was at 50% I soon got to a point doing the flashing where you get: "card protection error"

I called it quits and put both phones on charge. I'm not sure if the funky one is going to charge or anything, since there is no indication of such a thing.

Can someone help?

If the EROM is flashed ; try flashing with Sonics or usbsmart 5.0 free (not cracked; actually free) : http://www.se-tool.n...MCtool_v5.0.rar

Or even davinci 13.8 which supports service cables http://www.se-tool.n...avinci_13.8.rar

When the phone is flashed ;you can convert it to red using the dcu-60 with Mikhan's method.

Do you not need to pay to use DaVinci?

I'll wait until the batteries are charged before trying anything you suggested.

Thanks once again :)

13.8 im pretty sure is free to use if you have your own firmware files. I dont have a service cable so I have never tried but it cant harm your phone anymore.

Fully charged the battery on the working phone. Used it to attempt to re-flash the firmware, with no luck. Now I did notice something and it has left me somewhat confused. I was pretty certain when this phone was working and I unlocked it that it said it was CID36 RED, it somehow believes it is BROWN regardless of what I tell it to think.

Paste:
Flashing the phone with the brown EROM:
GUI v0.91373/UNI
standalone version engaged.
Card serial:
Loaded 49 flash descriptors
Open COM port OK
ChipID:8040,EMP protocol:0301

From here, I tried setting the CID 36 Brown to Red to no avail and every attempt rendered the same result.
"Card Protection Error" ensues from here. :(

Screeny for those of you wanting to help. :D
This was taken after failing on trying to flash the EROM Brown... it seems to be going at any point now.... I'm utterly confused.

For the lack of better tools I had to use JPG to make the dump from the windows machine. ick!

@a-v0id

I'm glad to hear that your mobile is working again. :) That would be super if you could post the steps as it may help someone else who experiences a similar problem. :)

I also packed the files so I know that there isn't anything wrong with them (at the moment). I had so much trouble finding the files to start with, that I thought it would be best to package them myself and host them, that way you're guarenteed to have at least some success.

My current usage with my provider is below a meg a day.... my limit is a few terabytes a month... not exactly any threat of anyone exceeding that at the moment. :D
