What this elf does: Something similar to this page (you can't choose speed (fixed at 10Hz) and color yet).

I'm not sure if the light emitted by the phone is enough for this to work. Nevertheless, you should have your mobile phone really close to your eyes, and make sure that all the lights are turned off.

Also, close all other elfs to make sure that this works at 10Hz as expected.

Someone should try this and tell me if it works (and if it doesn't, try the one in the link above too and see if that is working) :)

Source code is included.

2009-08-23 v1.1:
-White background now displays in 10Hz instead of 5Hz.

Hmm. Tried with full brightness but nothing. :( Also, every 5 seconds or so the flashes pause briefly but its noticeable. Don't know whether its me but ran it with no other elves.

Interesting though and will test further. But now of to bed. Thanks again Stonos. :)

I think I know why it didn't work for you. I thought that the background had to change 10 times every second (5 white backgrounds, 5 black backgrounds). But re-reading that wiki article, I saw this:

A light bulb is suspended in the center of the cylinder and the rotation speed allows the light to come out from the holes at a constant frequency, situated between 8 and 13 pulses per second.


I believe that a "pulse" is a white background. That means that there should have been 20 background changes every second (10 white, 10 black). Version 1.1 fixes this.

About the freezing problem I'm not really sure. It also happens at me (K810 R8BA) but certainly not every 5 secs (it takes much longer)...

You can replicate the functionality by using an animated gif image :)
