As you already know, Ive upgraded my pc. Details are: http://forums.se-nse...&...st&p=518018

Im just wondering: whats the best application to actually monitor the temperature of the whole system? Ideally, I would like this under ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04, as well as windows xp.

I currently use speedyfan (under windows xp), but I cant figure out what temperature is for what (unlike on my old computer). Any suggests as to which temperature is to what sensor?

I tried that everest: dont think much to it (seems mainly for seeing what computer you have, as to what the temps are: only detected the hdd temp and the graphics card temp)

i remeber there are such software that can monitor the temperature of RAM, hard drive and cpu..but it's only for windows xp. the sotware is in my brother's pc but to find it will take some hours or maybe a day or two because there are a few thousands of software in that pc. i had forgot the name of that software.

for your application.. coretemp/everest will work well. The later, recent versions of it it not freeware. I personally use coretemp for my HTPC build which is a 780G AMD build.

But for my Intel Rig, i use RealTemp. That wont work for AMD's i believe ;)

If you look on extremeoverclocking.com, you'll see that everyone recommends Core Temp. It's free too.

I exclusively use CoreTemp.... :) It's nice, but I've never tried it on Linux.
