Hi all
Ive had quite an adventure in patching a z550i
Killed it a few time's, loaded root kits on my P.C( SETOOL lite is a BIG virus win32:trojan.general{other})
and generally had a interesting time with this rare and undocumented phone
as there is very little documentation about this particular phone.
So I will share some of what I've learn't along the way
Notice Im Talking only about that the Z550i CID49 RED R6CA009 here
and I do not take any responsibility if your phone is messed up
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1) download JDflasher
2) get the prober REST files for your phone
(you will just brick it if you don't do this!!!!!)
I know how hard its to find a REST file, so I have given one to you
(load it into jdflasher\Plugins\jdflasher)
(just go to where you installed jdflasher, you will see 3 folders one called Plugins
just go to the folder called jdflasher and then go to Rest files and Unrar and copy it to there and add .REST to it)
Example:prgCXC1250583_GENERIC_ML_R6CA009.rest
(example in my REST folder)
3)document everything.
(All SMS,MMS time and date, Games,ect...
will be reset 90% of the time!!!!)
What is needed is to backup GDFS first (use XSS++ for this)
A) start JDFlasher,
B)So now start FAR Manager (Dos box), hit Alt+F1, and select just da flasher.
In the dialog that appears, select your phone on the left,
DCU-60 for the second combobox and the
highest speed for the third.
Click jump down into a large rabbit-hole and connect the phone holding C button.
It will ask you to remove your battery at some point and hold down your "C" key)
(Just follow instructions :-)
If everything goes ok, you’ll get 4 directories. oflash, ofs, bflash, bfs.
oflash - There you can flash main firmware and FS.
ofs - You can access filesystem, upload and delete files.
bflash - You can flash firmwares and you can APPLY PATCHES!<-------------------------
bfs - Access filesystem and download files, too.
Flashing works like this: on the left you select oflash/bflash, then on the right select the bin firmware file or the vkp patch file, and hit F5. (Like copying files with two-panel file managers.)
(you can also drag and drop from windows)
When you’re done, select the ‘..’ on the top of your left panel, and hit Enter.(important!!!!!!!!!)
In bflash, it will ask if you want to “restore the firmware”, select yes, it will flash the REST file on.(Killed the phone a few times by clicking no)
anyway thats it,
thats the instructions I used to patch my phone,
A couple of tips:
1)If anything goes wrong copy and paste of your error message,and try to Google it or post it here
2)usually what fixes most problems is to reflash your phone from scratch, MAIN,+ FS+ custom pack
(read up on how to do this, fixes most problems)
3)if all else fails, try to claim warranty
, or pray
(just joking..... but seriously only do this when you have a spare phone to work with,
at least until you can figure out whats wrong with your phone,
4)anything that's mentioned for K750i or W810i also applies to Z550i.
So you can pretty much follow that but with a bit of caution
