This is just an opinion (more of a ranting) on how Nokia lamely attempted to copy Sony Ericsson's 1st gen Walkman phones.
When Nokia released the 5300 it was more than a year after the mid-range priced W550i came out.

The W550i was a swivel phone while the 5300 was a slider.

You will notice the similarity in their size and their color.
The W550i is an orange music player while the 5300 was a reddish-orange music player too

The W550i came with an internal 256MB storage memory while the 5300 came with a 512MB MicroSD card.

The screen sizes were almost the same.

For connectivity, both phones have the same array of interfaces.

Bluetooth
USB
IrDA - quite rare for Nokia's during the 5300's time of release

Sony Ericsson is much better thank Nokia. nokia are trying to copy much stuff lately, but their products aren't any good according to me..

but w550 is really old now... the first Walkman phone..

W800 it's the first walkman phone.

the W550, was the first really cool Walkman phone. With it's swivel design, it's stylish even nowadays. The 5300 didn't even stand a chance in front of this phone.

That's your opinion....maybe others consider W810 the first really cool walkman, or W850 the first really cool walkman, and the list could go on.....

5300. W550 sucks. You need to close the phone to run camera, the material is poor, so fat, so bulky.

I've been a w550i user and I compare both phones and w550i is clearly ahead in all aspects except bulkyness and the 256 limitation

W550 still sucks, no memory card slot, 1.3mp only. but Nokia S40 is B-O-R-I-N-G

It's also a good few years old.

w550i ahead in camera,display and sound
5300 ahead in memory card and slimer

5300 is 240x320, W550 is 176x220.

But w550i LCD is clearer and crispier than 5300 I compare them side by side a year ago. 5300 loudspeaker sucks compare to w550i even headset quality. Tried using EP-630 on both still w550i wins.

Well, now my W550i works side-by-side with my C702i...
Two excellent phones each in their own category...

W550i definitely beats the 5300 nokia...after modding my old w550i...no nokia phone could challenge it (during it's time of course)

Edit: and radud5 is right...i also think that sony ericsson is more reliable than nokia
