MrT;
NOTE:This trick does not work on the W810. (It works, but MANY bugs, like flash menu crashes, etc)
USE SYSGFX INSTEAD...

Hello

Just found out that it is possible to change the look of the mediaplayer / walkman...

You need to create new images with certain filenames and copy them into the tpa\system\multimedia\mp folder in your phone FS. :)

Here is the file list :

Mr. Thunderbird said:

* fullscreen_back.gif (176x153px)
* list_background.gif (176x124px)
* low_back.gif (176x23px)
* video_background.gif (176x30px)
* xd_background.gif
* mode_loop.gif
* mode_normal.gif
* mode_random.gif
* mode_repeat.gif
* mode_eq_normal.gif
* mode_eq_bass.gif
* mode_eq_megabass.gif
* mode_eq_treble.gif
* mode_eq_manual.gif
* mode_eq_voice.gif
* play.gif
* rewind.gif
* stop.gif
* slowmotion.gif
* buffering.gif
* fastforward.gif
* pause.gif
* play_horizontal.gif

background.gif
fullscreen_back.gif
xd_background.gif
list_background.gif
list_highlight.gif
video_background.gif
low_back.gif

play.gif
rewind.gif
stop.gif
slowmotion.gif
buffering.gif
fastforward.gif
pause.gif
play_horizontal.gif

mode_normal.gif
mode_loop.gif
mode_repeat.gif
mode_random.gif

mode_eq_normal.gif
mode_eq_bass.gif
mode_eq_megabass.gif
mode_eq_treble.gif
mode_eq_manual.gif
mode_eq_voice.gif

The filenames are self explaining - I think.... but we still need to find the specific sizes for all images

But i guess there are still files missing :confused: I still was not able to change the "main" player

I discovered :

list_background.gif about 176x130 px
fullscreen_back.gif about 176x60 px
all the mode_*.gif - I tried 30x20 px but smaller ones should work too

Have fun ;)

Thanks, dude, you are the Columbus.

so, if we don't add the full list of the images into FS, but just some selection, like the background, and they will just replace the original images while the other unselected images remain unchanged, right?

Browsing through the tpa\system\multimedia\mp folder, i came across the settings.xml file, and this segment in particular interested me:

Quote

<manual_equalizer>
<band_1>14</band_1>
<band_2>0</band_2>
<band_3>0</band_3>
<band_4>0</band_4>
<band_5>3</band_5>
</manual_equalizer>

My walkman was using was the megabass eq setting before i switched off, and so, it appears like this above is the setting for the Megabass. We can tweak it to create our own megabass settings, but i'm not sure whether it'll be saved or get deleted after we change the eq setting in the media player.
I'm also exploring the possibility of adding extra eq bands to create an 8-band equalizer.

Will keep posting.....and BTW, let's rename this thread as "Pimp your Walkman" - to include everything from reskinning to re-equalizing!

I made some simple images to show you what is possible at the moment :

sorry again for the poor quality :bad:

but it seems that some files do not change anything - like the background.gif or xd_background.gif :confused:
perhaps we just have to put them in another folder - but which ?

I attached this first simple "theme" nothing spectacular and there are also many files not changed- it is just a sample

just copy the files into the tpa\system\multimedia\mp folder...

only tested with W800i firmware - but perhaps someone could copy some sample files to an K750i to see if i.e. the background.gif does have an effect

Attached File(s)

Just tested on K750i

fullscreen_back.gif - nothing to see (not supported)

list_background.gif - is used
low_back.gif - is used

Attached File  Bild1.jpg (9.45K)
Number of downloads: 7276

(used an example pic, because of better quality)

It seems that the FM radio could be modified too isn't it? tpa/system/multimedia/fmradio for the location where u can put some pictures with specific filenames

hello
great work
i have tested it on my k750i
but only the files low_back.gif and list_background.gif seems to work
so you are still able to change the background color of your k750 media player
i hope you can change more soon

so there will be somewhat **complete** theme package including normal themes, menu tweak and walkman skin.

Life becomes so beautiful for K750/W800 users. Thanks Oblivion!

There're only the testfiles from this threat. Nothing else until now.
If you delete one of the testfiles, okay, DL them and copy again.
The originalfiles are NOWHERE to download, because they are deeply hidden in the mainfirmware.

If you delete the files in the MP-folder (except the settings.xml) the look should change back to regular view.
And at last the settings.xml in MP-folder is not used for startup the mediaplayer and wil be generated new, each time you restart the mediaplaer. It's not there at fresh flashed or resetted phones.

If you still think, you MUST have the files:
Here they are, but they only contains my personla settings of the mediaplayer, so your phone will search for my mp3s. :)

Attached File  W800i_mp.zip (11.97K)
Number of downloads: 118057 Attached File  K750i_mp.zip (419bytes)
Number of downloads: 241517

I guess we need some kind of a xml file to modify the main player page - because it also has a scroll bar with a specific color. I suggest to write it into the settings.xml but we do not know any tags...

does anyone have a taglist for that file?
