Yeah I just got this G900 off of eBay, and no matter where you touch the screen it registers as a click of the upper right corner. This usually brings up "Open Applications" of course, so then there is no way to get out of open applications, your only option is to hit the back button.

Did I get screwed? I'm about to contact the seller... but is it worth flashing the firmware? I don't even see any SEUS options on the phone. I was hoping the "Open Applications" was a shortcut option but it doesn't look like it. ugh

OK.

I'm trying to flash with SEUS but their website is down, what a pain. I installed the smartphone software, trying to do the driver now, then I guess I need to look for SEUS application.

Are there any other repositories where I can get SEUS App? Thanks yall

We've got it in the downloadbase, you can click the link in my signature. You'll have to register first though.
Googling would be easier, I'm sure you'll find it.
Anyway, you wrote this tonight, so I guess the site is up again by now ;)

Thanks, site worked great. I updated with SEUS and still touchpad doesn't work. It makes clicking noise but I can't get past the Language select without using the touchscreen. I also took the phone all the way apart and put it back together, that had no effect either.

Is anyone familiar with G900/G700 making click noise but only registering the click on the upper right corner? And do you think this could be solved by replacing the touch screen?

Well, back to my w610i for now anyways. I'm thinking maybe Nokia N79, as it has EDGE & GPS, better Cam, 3.5mm jack. Never owned a Nokia before.

I think there is a calibration on step 6 or 7 of the master reset, or initial install... but I can't use either because they require using the touch screen, so I doubt the calibration does much. Seems like a faulty hardware issue to me.

So, do you guys think ordering the $50 replacement LCD Digitizer Lens will solve the problem?

It's likely...but the problem could still be sth else.
What about your warranty?

Is there a 1 Year Manufactures' Warranty? I'm in the states, and Sony didn't sell this phone in the states, but should I call them and see what they can do for me? I wouldn't even know what number to call... We'll I plan on ordering both a Nokia N79 and a Replacement touch screen for the G900 this Friday.

Well I got home today and the touchscreen started working, kind of. I was able to select my language and use it for about a minute, and then it went back to just making the click noise and opening "Open Applications" switcher. Does this intermittent working help determine the problem at all?

It just makes me guess that the flex cables might be loose but that's about it...

I have the same problem as you. I can hear a clicking sound but cannot come pass the "Language screen".
My buttons work and i can select a language but when it sais "do you wish to confirm this language" i need to use the touchscreen. Only a clicking sound without respons.

I thought the problem was the digitizer so i bought a new one, that DID NOT solve the problem!

I cant put my finger on what could be the problem, is it possible that it might be the firmware or maybe a more serious
hardwareproblem in the phone?

My touchscreen is also not working. Most of it is, if i press REALLY hard but not at the bottom where you need to press yes/no/save etc. I was thinking of getting a new digitizer, but I have absolutely no idea on how to remove the old one and install the new one. Some store on ebay was nice enough to send me SE's repair manual thing, but I can't find instructions for this. Can anyone help? Thanks =D

It sounds like the touch panel is broken, the touch panels are cheap to buy and saves replacing the whole lcd, the touch is basically clipped on top of the lcd.

I was attracted by such a device (G700 or G900 in this case) but I can't understand why there are such problems with the touch screen... How come SE allowed this quality issue?

I just got the same problem today. Started messing up and just stopped.
Worked when i pushed down on the edges around the screen firmly while the
phone is on a flat surface.

I took the front or the phone face off and cleaned the touchscreen contacts
on the top right, reassembled it and its fine now. This video shows how to
disassemble the phone.

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=9nELPQe1zdQ

Stop at about 1:30 in the video and clean the contacts then reassemble.
Tighten the screws well as loose screws could have caused the problem to begin with.

Hey guys.. I have the exact same problem as the person who made this thread.. I didn't wanna make a new one, so I was hoping you guys could help me out?
I tried updating with the update software but I couldn't even get past the language settings because i had to touch the screen.. Couldn't do a master reset, also need to use touchscreen, I can't evne take it apart cause i don't have the right tool that can undo the screws..
Anything else I can do? Thanks in advance.

I did not have the right screw driver either use
a flathead micro screwdriver...don't destroy the
screws if its not going just get the right ones
its worth it.

My problem was not a software issue
and if yours is the same software updates and
such will not make a difference. Try pushing firmly
around the screen while the phone is on a flat surface
with one hand while testing the touchscreen with other.
Thats how i figured out my prob.
