Hello loyal followers,

as some of you may have already noticed we have had a restructure of the forum sections as part of the se-nse v5 update.

The new layout is designed to put more focus on the News and Reviews, separate the forum market and setup a more central and ordered place for mobile content. There are also a couple of new sub-sections within the Firmware department which should help tidy things up.

Please be aware that there will be a period of time while we get all the topics moved to their new locations if necessary.

Hopefully you'll settle into the new structure nicely but please do let us know what you think.

Cheers,

Mik

PS- please also take a look at this poll regarding the positioning of the News and Internal sections

I hate to think how long this is going to take you all!

Is there any chance we will be able to have seperate threads instead in the place of the 'DB3015 mod thread'?
It's getting awfully messy in there.

I think threads like the DB3150 mod thread, should be banned or advised against, most DB3150 mods are in that thread but the more pages the more impossible it gets to find anything and it just confuses newbies it even confuses me somtimes it's a mess of every db3150 mod, spam & requests.

I don't like the new forum struture probley because i'm so used to the old 1, i'm sure in time i'l get used to it.

I agree with number1: take elfpack as an example as well (which still confuses the hell out of me )

I notice the the new patches section in the customizing section what you need is sub forums for everything,

Elfs,
acoustics,
camdrivers,
display drivers
graphical mods,

then divide up the main customizing forum for different phone types, and this could be the general customizing forum for anything else/

db2010/12
db2020
db3150

That way everything would have it's place and could be found easy less confusion & frustration but it would probley require more staff with the modding knowledge to keep everything tidy and in it's place.

10 pages doesn't take long to flick though and read it's when they go over 50.

@ number1

anything in particular that you don't like or think worked better before?

Regarding ridiculously big topics, I agree they are never a good thing so we'll see what sort of solutions the technical staff can come up with.

I think the SE-NSE Internal box should be at the top, since it contains the accouments etc related to the site, i think more sub forums in the customizing firmware section would reduce the number of huge & messy threads, for example if you had a serperate section for camdrivers a user would be more temped to post it in there in it's own thread as it would be the more logical & tempting place to post it rather than the db3150 mod thread for example.

Like with number1, SE-NSE Internal should be top, followed by News&Reviews.

Contacted Mizzle a long time ago about it. Infact I was the first to start worrying. But to put it simply, he said no.

I was originally unsure about moving Internal down too but then I started to see it differently.

Having News at the top gives it prime place to be seen by all users and guests. Of course guests are not particularly concerned with Internal affairs and the name even suggests that it is something related to greater forum involvement.
There is some sense then that the outermost skin and first appearance is that which most appeals to non-members and infrequent users while travelling a little further down as regular users will do we come to those sections which apply more to them.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying guests, infrequent or new members should be treated favouribly (you'd see quite the contrary if you could see the v5 discussions) but I don't think this has taken any functionality away from regular users.

As for the f/w topics, that's not an issue created by this restructure and should be considered seperately, I will speak with the technical staff and attempt to come up with a summary of what can be done.

It does seem like se-nse is favouring people who aren't even signed-up just random vistors probley brought here by google, i had the same problem with the new left hand column on the main page it was oringally arranged to favour unregisted users until we all complained about it, i think you should be taking more care of us members who actually make an effort to sign-up and to us the SE-NSE Internal box would be better at the top alot easyer to check whats going on with the site etc, unregisterd users can't complain like we can  :)

Well like I said I was very much on the side of existing members with regards to the home page and while it obviously takes more than one vote to define how the site changes rest assured that I will continue to have regular and loyal users as a priority. I ask then that you do continue to let us know what would be better for you but also to do it in a constructive way, if people simply start sulking and complaining that won't help much ;)

The thing about that DB3150-something thread is that it's incredibly hard to filter it and categorize everything.

I wasn't directing that at you in particular, it was a general statement ;)

I will definitely monitor the poll and do remember that nothing is ever set in stone, I personally think that meeting the needs of the users is the most important factor but of course there is always a balance.

Can we not make separate thread now then?
It's only going to get worse.

Certainly, feel free to do that, but I'm just saying that I can't and won't promise we'll be able to split that large thread and move the posts in the right threads.
