Yes, try connecting using 2 and 5 instead of C. sometimes it works better for me, that way!

When I try that I get this error a few seconds after I plug in the phone.

However when I try holding c instead of 5 and 2 I am able to try flashing... but it still fails part way through flashing.
Still bricked..

You're not using XP Service Pack 3 are you? On some computers you need to downgrade to XP Service Pack 2 to use JdFlasher correctly!

I am pretty sure it was SP2 but I will check again.

Today I plugged in my phone to the wall to charge and the red led on the side came on for about a minute, then went off. Does this mean anything?

I am charging it up and will attempt flashing from a different computer (will make sure it is SP2).

Ok good and bad news!

After keeping my phone on the charger for about 2 days I tried to flash again and it worked. Flashed MAIN and FS with no problems. I did everything else up until step 14. "Disconnect phone, remove and re-insert battery. Start it up. Let it finish, then shut it down."

The phone never started up after I replaced the battery. Now I have trouble getting the computer to recognize the phone. I have only got it to connect once... doesn't look good.

Thanks for all you help!

Honestly it sounds to me that you may need to reinstall your flash drivers and then run an update with SEUS because you may have fried your EROM or GDFS (which are almost impossible to fix)!

I just decided to give up and get a new phone since I was eligible for an upgrade. My warranty on the w580 expired about 3 days before I bricked it... didn't plan this one so well. But it worked out because I got a blackjack 2 for $50 and its an awesome phone.

If anyone wants to try and fix my phone or use it for parts let me know. I'll give it up pretty cheap

If you are located within the USA and would pay shipping, does $5 sound good!

I think shipping might be more than $5...  I don't really feel like losing money.

Yes the battery generally causes that error. Make sure you take it out!

1. Is your windows 32 bit or 64 bit?
2. Vista or XP?
3. XP SP3/SP2 or Vista SP1?

Please answer those questions!

Make sure you have microsoft .net framework 3.0 installed. It makes a big difference, trust me. Then try again with my Far version!
