I have a G502 and I get area info (usually the city I'm in) when I'm in a 2G network. When I get switched to the 3G network (HSPA) area info disappears. Why is that?

HSPA doesn't exist.

GPRS = 2.0G
3G = 3.0G
HSDPA = 3.5G

I have no clue about your problem tho. What does the area info include?

ah i think i have mistaken the terms. it's actually cell information on 3.5G network. anyways here are some screenshots.

first one is the gsm network, you can see the name ampitiya. that's the cell info i think. the second one is on the HSDPA network. i can't see the area info while in it. why is that?

I'm not sure.
Are we even sure HSPA networks carry cell information in the same way as GSM ones?

Or, maybe your particular network doesn't broadcast cell information via HSPA.
So maybe you should speak to them to confirm.
