Alright so heres the deal,
My friend:
- tried to unlock his BROWN CID49 W600i from rogers
- flashed it with XS++ with red firmware
- Hence, it gave the WSOD afterward.

I've tried JDFlasher attempting to flash the red firmware.
It would flash halfway, then give me a "USB I/O time exceed" error 9.
Now it wont turn on at all

Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

First you have to convert Brown CID to RED one..
after you converted to RED CID.... u can flash the firmware normally .

Thanks for your reply, how could I do this?
I've only seen the tutorial for it for CID36, could I convert via JDFlasher?

The tutorial says C36 only, would it work though?

wait do NOT convert it

i just did a bit of googling and found that if you try this method on cid 49 it can possibly brick your phone permanently

Alright, I'm still stuck for things to try

Already tried:

1) SETool Lite - doesnt support DCU brown flashing
2) XS++ - cannot find W600 brown CID42 firmware, cannot flash red firmware onto it
3) JDFlasher - Gives me a time exceed error midway through flashing
4) SEUS - says I already have the latest firmware

so I'm really stuck for ideas now, about to give up.
Any ideas on how I can:
- flash this brown CID49 w600 back to life would be great
- a method to downgrade to CID36 would be also fantastic.

cid 49, not cid 42 you mean

well there is a solution to flash the erom using setool 3 box (you have to buy it)
click "add" browse and select:

"eroms/w550_erom_red49.cry"

then click flash and your phone will be RED49

then flash the main and fs and custpack using setool2lite
