SE-NSE global forum rules

The SE-NSE global forum rules have been designed to ensure the smooth running of SE-NSE and a pleasant viewing experience for all members. As a member of SE-NSE, you’re obligated to read, agree to and follow these rules.

If you should come across any rule violations, either on public forums or via private messaging, please contact a forum moderator via the "Report" button visible in the left bottom corner of every post. This will automatically contact all moderators responsible for that forum section. Please do not attempt to deal with the matter yourself.

Please note that any rule violation will be dealt with as our team of moderators see fit and the final interpretation of the rules lies with them. Action can be taken against any member deemed to have broken forum rules or behaved in a manner contrary to the spirit and tone of the forum.

Language  

SE-NSE is an English language forum only, members must not post in other languages in the interest of globally understandable dialogue between members (and moderators). Any inappropriate, non-English content may be removed without further notice. This also includes shorthand or "txt" language.

Any use of swearing or foul language with the intent to discriminate, insult, or threaten another member is strictly prohibited. Deliberate attempts to bypass the forum censor e.g. with the use of a * is also not permitted.
Light use of swearwords in a comical or everyday-situation may be permissible within reason.

Posting of abusive, discriminating, hateful, obscene, offensive, provoking, racist, slanderous, sexually-oriented, threatening, or vulgar material is strictly prohibited, and will not be tolerated. Naturally, members of SE-NSE are allowed to disagree with other members as long as it is within the remit of common decency.

Prohibited Content

The following rules apply to all forum areas including posts, avatars, signatures, and any other user profile content.

Pornographic content

Pornographic content of any description is prohibited on SE-NSE. This includes directly posting of such content or linking to sites containing pornographic content. Any members violating this rule will be banned immediately.

‘Sexy’ pictures are allowed, e.g. themes involving these sexy pictures, as long as there is no full frontal nudity and/or sexual activity.

Shocking material

Members are at no time permitted to post or link to content, which is deliberately designed to upset or shock other members of the forum.
Content of shocking nature may be accepted in certain circumstances, such as news reports, but should be accompanied with a warning that the linked material may shock or upset people. Any direct posting of such material, however, is not allowed.

Copyright-protected material

Members of SE-NSE are at no time permitted to post or link to any content that violates international copyright laws. If you plan to post or link to copyrighted material, you must obtain permission from the rightful copyright holder. Copyrighted material among other things include:

• Illegal or cracked software and games (warez)
  
• Music and video files, and other media content
  
• CD/DVD covers
  
• Photographic reports

In addition no discussion of warez or illegal software of any description is permitted, though members are of course entitled to post and link to their own content.

Commercial flashing services

The rules regarding copyrighted materials also apply to commercial (pay-for) flashing services. Posting any information designed to allow people to circumvent the copyright on these services and make use of them without paying will be dealt with in the same manner as any other copyright violation.
This is reiterated in the warning posted in the Firmware & Flashing section.

Advertising and Spam

Posting spam on the forum is not permitted. Our definition of spamming includes deliberately posting nonsense to increase your post count, posting of "Great", "Wow", "Good +1", "Thanks +1" etc, annoying other members, advertising of commercial websites or ventures and multiple posts of the same content. Linking to your own website should be done via your signature or in your profile. Posts 'begging' for reputation points will also be considered as spam and is not allowed.

Members are permitted to create one thread on SE-NSE to advertise non-commercial websites that they feel may be of interest to other members of SE-NSE. Links to other websites are permitted for the purpose of helping and/or informing other members but persistently posting repeated links to one site will be considered as spam.

The advertising of commercial ventures and referral links are not permitted without prior expressed permission granted by the SE-NSE staff.

Criminal Activities  

At no time are any members of SE-NSE allowed to promote or enquire about criminal activities or incite violence of any sort .

Forum Signatures

Signatures must follow all general forum rules as well as the following limitations:

• Signatures may include text, images or a combination of both
  
• Text only signatures are limited to 5 lines including blank lines
  
• Fonts must be of default size but may be formatted with bold or italics
  
• The maximum permitted image dimensions are 700 pixels in width by 75 pixels in height
  
• Multiple images may be used if their combined dimensions do not exceed any SINGLE limitation e.g. two userbars may be placed side by side
  
• A large image may be accompanied by up to two lines of text
  
• A small image may be accompanied by up to three lines of text

Minor variations to the signature limitations policy may be allowed at the discretion of the moderating team.

Any signatures which violate these limitations or are deemed by the staff to be in any way unsuitable will be removed.

Marketplace

All standard forum rules apply to the Marketplace.

Additionally however, there are specific rules relating to buying, selling and general conduct within the Marketplace which can be found here.

Interpretations, Queries and Complaints

All SE-NSE forum rules are subject to the interpretation by the SE-NSE staff.
Staff may take action against members or content deemed contrary to the spirit and tone of the forum, even if no specific rules are broken.

As a SE-NSE member you agree to abide by forum rules and staff decisions. Members may request clarification but cannot simply ignore or break rules they disagree with.

All moderation decisions must be respected though genuine queries/complaints can be made directly to staff members via PM or e-mail, they should not be made in public.
Members may only query actions taken directly against themselves or a group they are a part of, they may not enquire about actions taken against others.

Query/Complaint procedure:

First contact should be directly with the staff member who took the action you are querying.

If you are not aware which staff member took the action or if you have a general query, then please contact a member of staff assigned to the appropriate forum section.

Complaints against Moderators may be taken up with SuperModerators and likewise complaints against SuperModerators may be taken up with Admins.

Once given a second opinion you must abide by the overall staff decision, persistent disrespect or disregard for rulings will result in further action.

SE-NSE staff will allow donate links but with these restrictions:

• ONE link posted per user i.e. in their gallery/mods topic
  
• NO donate links in signatures
  
• NO donations for the promise of work
  
• NO "buy me a XXXX and I'll develop for it"

Any donate button that is deemed inappropriate or doesn't follow these rules will be removed without notice.
