Hello, I have an unlocked s500i(no warranty) and using it with a canadian simcard.
After a little while, I began noticing that the left side of the top half of the phone started coming off and was pretty loose. Soon after, the back, top and some other buttons ceased to work. To get them to work, you have to push down on the screen very hard and that's probably harmful, since the screen has waves across it.
Sending it for repairs would take hundreds and I thought it might be an easy fix.
I wanted to take the top half off, but I'm unsure of how to do that exactly and where I would fix this issue.
Thanks!

You will find the SE Service Manual for the W580i/S500i in this topic
I looked through it, but it doesn't mention where to tighten the bolts/frame, or maybe I'm just dumb. I called SE and they won't repair it, so it's the only chance I got

Could be the ribbon cable between the two halves of the phone.
It's a fairly common issue with the W580s and S500s.
Really you want it sorted by a proper engineer if possible.
How come you don't have a warranty?

The service manual won't tell you how to tighten something which is loose. What it tells you is how to completely dismantle and reassemble the phone. You said you wanted to take it apart, that guide will tell you how. make sure you put everything back together properly and tighten everything enough but not too much, if the phone is still loose then further investigation will be needed.
