Sounds like the switch is ether stuck or not being pressed when you open the shutter.

first thig to do is to have a look at the switch to see if it is stuck, faulty or if it will work without the back on, i dont know how technical you are so i have added photos incase you dont know what i'm talking about lol.

take off the back of your phone and you will see 2 screws in the middle of the phone, there are not torx these just need a small phillips screwdriver to open shown below:

once you have undone the two phillips screws the top section will come away, this may take some force, put your fingers underneith the cover where the battery would sit and pull upwards until your case looks like the pic below:

at this point push the cover toward the top of the phone where the on/off button is and it will detatch.

now that you have detatched the cover you will be able to see the switch that activates when the shutter is opened, shown below (bottom left silver thing)

coming out of the silver switch is a small black plastic tab if this is not there this would be why your camera does not work, if the plasic lever is present then push it in and put your battery in toggle the switch to see if your camera works when you manualy move the switch, if this is the case then your cover may have not been on properly or the plastic that moves the switch lever is broken on your case.

if the switch works fine the turn your attention to the cover you have just taken off, shown in the picure below look if the black plastic slider moves and is present shown below :

if the switch dosnt work when you toggle it manualy then it looks like you have a faulty switch, if this is the case let me know.

hope this helps
