Hi guys.

Awhile back, using a tutorial found on these forums, I flashed the firmware of my Sony Ericsson W850i phone and de-branded it. My intention was to add flash animated menus, but they never worked. Also, after flashing the firmware, menu's work differently, and key presses don't do the same functions anymore. Plus previously, I could minimize a running application or game without having to quit it, but no longer can.

What I was wondering, is if there is any way to return it to the way it was originally? I am in New Zealand, and the phone was sold to me by Vodafone New Zealand.

I don't remember backing any files up before doing it, but my girlfriend also has the identical phone. Only difference, her's hasn't been modded in any way. Is there a way I can get the firmware off her phone, and put it on mine to have it running like when I originally purchased the phone?

It's certainly not broken... I'm just not happy with the results I got. I hope someone here can help a silly n00b like myself.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I think I understand what you mean. However, I had a feeling I am using the Vodafone main already, although not certain as I did it all months ago now. I'll have to find an understandadle tutorial here first, as I can't remember how I did it in the first place :(

Ok, just to be sure, there is no way to just take the needed files off our other W850i and apply them to my de branded W850i right?

Nope. But to make your search easier, run the other w850 through XS++ (or whatever program you use) and note its firmware, then search for that firmware to match

Or, trail through your logs of XS++ (or whatever program you used: it will be when you first connected your phone) and use that to find the old firmware

As for tuts for rebranding: its the same procedure as flashing a phone, except youre using the bodafone branded firmware
