Try putting it on a pc or laptop and call the phone. Also try placing the S700 on various other electronic devices eg a tv. It reboots most of the time. Bluetooth also tends to cut off more when placed on those items as well.
Apparently some types of electronic interfere with the S700 which causes it to reboot. This has been confirmed by Sony Ericsson Sweden but not Sony Ericsson UK as they are deneying it and saying to send the phone off for a software upgrade.

Mine only crashes on My Friends, i charge it on top of my PC and it sits near my laptop most of the rest of the time I'm in, and I've had no problems.
I have noticed that custom firmwares on SE do tend to have more problems, the Orange K700i and O2 and Voda S700i bothe suffer from what you describe. Mine is SIM free.
