ive seen a couple of videos of peopel runnign linux on there z530i and i was wonderign what would be the advantages of this and if any has done it also if it damages being able to use it as a phone still

I think he means the linux theme, there is a linux pack on this forum somewhere.

I wouldnt say its not possible. Linux is so portable that if a team of developers dedicated themselves to making a Linux port for a Sony phone it would be very possible. They just need to program the radi stack, bluetooth stack, proper low level hardware drivers and so on, so not porbable yes, but it is absolutley possible.

the z530 has low ram, low specs, no linux system can work on it!!
also, brand new firmware would have to be written according to the linux os which would also have to work with the z530 hardware!!!

Exactly what I said...Linux is being used as a base for the Android OS coming out for smart phones. Although Smartphones are generally more capable, Linux can be stripped down enough to run on low hardware specs.
