I will preface by saying I have read so many threads on this subject that my head has been spinning for weeks on this subject. I'm finally breaking down and asking for some clarification before I pull the trigger.
I have read Da_G's guide over on HowardForums, only to find his method is reportedly a bit outdated. My research has brought me to XS++ 3.1, which seems like it just may be my one-size-fits-all tool that I need right now. I have a Red 49 phone.
Here's what I'd like to do:
- Keep most of Cingular's setup, i.e. NOT debrand the phone fully.
- Unlock the hidden features, such as the activity menu, flash themes, etc.
- Change the camera driver & accoustics to get a louder earpiece volume.
It seems to me that I 1. Keep Cingular's MAIN, i.e. W810_R4EA031_MAIN_CINGULAR_RED49.mbn
Can I:
2. I keep Cingular's FS, i.e. W810_R4ED001_FS_AMERICA_2_RED49.fbn?
3. I use FSX to upload some of my own customizations to the phone. I'm a little shaky on this detail. Perhaps I first need to extract the tpa, etc. contents off my phone? Can I take the directory structures I have (courtesy of Da_G) and put that straight onto the phone after backing up my current? Is that a "custom pack"?
I very much appreciate any help. The tutorials on this site are amazing and I wouldn't have any questions if I were trying to fully debrand my phone. I'm only a little confused because I want to buck the trend and keep the phone somewhat Cingularized, but also take it back to its roots a little.
Thanks,
b
