At 20:00 GMT Sony Ericsson was supposed to unveil the latest addition to its lineup of Walkman phones at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. We don't know what's taking them so long, but we thought we'd post the preview as we had already promised. Don't say we don't look after you at SE-NSE.
As you can see the design is much more conservative than the W800i; however, while the index for the phone is higher (0-10), the W810i lacks some of the features of the W800i.
Aesthetic differences include a new button layout for the softkeys, and a slightly different design for the back cover. It should be noted that an activity button is present as well as the Walkman button, and the three speaker grills on the back cover are for the same speaker (i.e no true stereo sound). The W810i is also slightly less deeper than W800i (including the FM Radio, contrary to some reports).
Although the standby time and talk time (350 hours and 8 hours respectively) are less than that of the W800i, there are some features to note that will please many SE fans. These include EDGE, QuadBand, a light sensor that automatically adjusts the intensity of the keypad backlight, support for the Sony Ericsson Remote Update service, and support for SyncML 1.2. The internal memory will be 21MB, however first indications are that it will be shipped with a 512MB Pro Duo card. Other features can all be seen in W800i.
W810i should be in the shops in Q1 2006 and will be available in the same colours as W900i.

Sony Ericsson also used this opportunity to announce two more speaker accessories. More info can be found HERE. We expect that another phone will be announced very soon - the clamshell walkman phone codenamed Mulan, that we saw pictures of a few weeks ago. Stay tuned for a preview later.
