What are the benefits we can get out of GSM850?

As long as you make a gdfs backup out of your phone, you can easily restore it and undo any changes on your cellphone.

is there any way I can check to find out if its really using the 850 band? In USA here using AT&T I really wanted the 850 band a lot, the 1900 wasn't really reliable everywhere....
And BTW clickzone how did you find this out? and good job
Now how can we add EDGE Support?
Maybe I wont buy that Nokia N95 after all, this K800 never ceases to surprise me...

I would like to believe it will work... After all they did have a quad band K800 when they were still manufacturing them, as a beta or something like that. And as for the K790i it has 900/1800/1900 & EDGE.
So maybe all there K790's and K800's are all alike except they bloked out the 850 on some to.... I dunno for what but they just locked out the option to have it.
and we could maybe have a true quad-band EDGE+ internation 3G & US 3G?

No you dont have to unlock again, you dont need to change your firmware, and it works as well with any firmware, once you dont change your firmware...
I am from brazil and i tested it first with the only one operator that uses 850mhz, both with k790 and k800, worked very well with all operators, i would not post here without testing all operators, for who lives here and dont have a VIVO chip, you can test at "Menu, settings, connectivity, mobile networks, select network". But try this BEFORE you apply the GDFS script, you will see that wont show VIVO operator... AFTER you put the GDFS script try this again and will show VIVO operator. But i tryed with a VIVO CHIP, to be sure that works, VIVO works only under 850mhz band here.

The benefits is in some countries that uses GSM850, then if you unlock your K790i it wont work with this operator, like here in brasil VIVO uses 850mhz band...
And who asked if it just show the 850mhz band or it really works, yes it really works...
