i have tried to watch ***.avi ***.mp4 same movie (did it 2x times with 2 diferent movies) and used conventer Yamb 2.0.0.8

Use the converter SuperC, it has a built-in convertor setup for 3gp, that's viewable on your phone.

3gp is the container you should use but not the video format.

Download Super its made by erightsoft google for it.

I think in Super its the sony ericsson preset, just make sure the screen resolution is the same as your phones, use h263/mp4 for video codec and aac for audio. id say 120-170 for audio bitrate at about 15fps(the more the smoother ) and 48k aac for audio should be enough

Avi does not work on se phones. only 3gp (hm not very good quality...) and mp4 with aac audio codec I have a w580i too and it works here.

Photograph, what are the specific settings did you put for the mp4 file. I tried knk's settings and it always gave me an error whenever i try to convert. Does it matter what the input file is? Cuz i was testing it on a small video to see it it would work only the audio came out for the mp4.

there should be an option to change to directshow, so then basically anything that the horrible windows media player will play it should be able to decode i think. that should get rid of the error. cant check it for you atm tho

Sweet it runs on my phone now but it sorta lags and stuff...Is it suppose to be like that? Maybe i had a poor input file but yeah I just wanna know what you see. Thanks for your help so far. =)

same settings as me photographer =] except of course with the bitrate alot lower

the reason it lags is because u got the bitrate up too high, try about 130-200 for video(depending on how high quality you want) and id do about 48k for audio but turn it up for better quality again. I also lower my framerate to 15 but thats up to you aswell
