Unable To Edit Customize.xml File...

Hello all!
Just got a new 580i yesterday and while searching for info on the phone I stumbled across these forums.
Thanks for all the info- I wasn't even aware that all this was at all possible until yesterday!
With that said, I want to try and edit my customize.xml file on my 580i (just got it yesterday) and I was able to copy the file to my hard drive via FAR and the SE plugin.
I want to enable flash menus and the ability to use mp3s as rintones (without having to chop them up or use the Sont software to do it).
My issue is that when I open up the customize.xml with Notepad it is blank.
Windows Explorer reports the file size as 0 bytes.
Any idea as to what is going on?
Is it user error (this is my first time doing any of this)?
Any info anyone could provide would be great.
Thanks.
PS. I have spent hours last night trying to get info on my issue on various forums all to no avail...

Your phone is db2020 and, I think, CID52. You can't copy files from your PC as simple as that. Follow the number1 guide.
But that's for advanced reasons. What you want you can get it with customize_upgrade.xml file
Do a search for it, load it to your phone and that's all. No reason to get deep modifying customize.xml

Thanks for the info Number1!
That guide taught me how to copy the file back once I am ready but once I clicked the generate XML source this is what I got:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<customization>
<file-operations>
<file-op parse-mask="fa" op="copy" source="tpa/preset/custom /Customize.xml" dest="usb/other/Customize.xml" />
</file-operations>
</customization>
I guess I was expecting to see options that I could customize- i.e.
Search for the term ringtone-restriction.
Delete this snipet of code.
Re-enabling flash animation menu's.
Find the line <disable-flash-desktop>true</disable-flash-desktop> and change it to false.
Then go into the folder tpa/preset/desktop/flash and delete the file called disableflashdesktop.
Place flash (.swf) menus here.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

I will search as you suggested Malfreds.
My firware: R7AC001
EROM: Red CID52
And you're right- a ready-to-go customize_upgrade.xml file is just what the doctor ordered!
Thanks again!
P.S. I don't want to unlock the phone or even unbrand it (although I would like to remove some of the default ringtones/videos that are taking up space and I don't care for but can't do it via the phone manager or the phone itself).
