I have a w580i that I unbranded using:
W580_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED52
W580_R8BA024_FS_AMERICA_1_RED52
HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_106_R8A_GENERIC_AMERICA_1

And since then by the reception bar, there is this "E" icon, which i take it is for EDGE, ALWAYS on. and it seems that there is nothing i can do to get rid of it. I was wondering if anyone had experienced this and had a solution to get rid of it, that E is annoying as well as uncomforting.
any ideas?

It's quite simple top remove it...go to
menu->settings->connectivity(press right three times to get here)->data comm->preferred service->choose PC only and the E icon will disappear!!!

whats the difference if theres "edge"? i have that too but i dont know whats the difference? doesnt it affect the reception?

No difference in the normal call's reception....and i think it will switch back on automatically when you try to connect... so it's just a matter of preference really... makes the signal tower look a bit better when you are not using edge.
