I haven't seen any Mobile Java bittorrent client either (I've seen a few Java bittorrent programs, but those are for PCs and can't be run on phones since they use hardware specific stuff that doesn't exist in phones).

But why in the earth would you put a bittorrent software on a phone ? Next time somebody will ask for a DC++ client for phones :D

Anyways, looking at how much you pay for traffic from the phone i really don't think it's of any use to have a bittorrent client on the phone.

To backup your files from the phone (also contacts/SMSs and stuff) use MyPhoneExplorer.
To backup the files that are not accessible you could use this tutorial (i don't know exactly on which phones it works, but if you have a phone with CID 49 then you can use FAR manager to copy the files off the phone, you could take a look at this tutorial for that)

About why there isn't any Bittorent client for Java phones ? well, i think mostly because downloding through a phone is very expensive, so there aren't many people using the phone as a download system. Also, the Bittorent filosofy is that you upload at least as much as you download, so that means you'll need to do double the ammount of traffic.

Anyways, i don't know exactly, but the Java platform used on the phone might also not allow certain actions that are needed for a Bittorent client (for example opening different ports, connecting to multiple IPs at once, downloading/uploading from/to multiple sources at once, ...).
