I've never had a at&t phone (I'm in the UK), but from what I hear they generally cripple the firmware (no MP3 ringtones, no file transfers over bluetooth etc). Are you sure you really want it?

I dont know about that particular brand, but I think R1KG001 is the latest generic version you can get (if its CID52, like most newer w850is) so check this site..

http://www.iprotebe.cz/firmware-w850

other than keeping a generic firmware, you could try a server client such as davinci, though there will be a fee but there are a number of branded firmwares to choose from. From my experience, branded firmware can sometimes affect the phones performance, what with all the added features, links and unneccessary add ons. my advice would be to keep a good generic version.

hope this helped!

1) not completely true (verizon, our version of vodafone, cripples the bluetooth, and MP3 ringtones are possible with a size limit, but that can be changed without changing the firmware

2) i think the OP has stated in another post that he needs to send his phone back for warranty repair and wants it back to branded state before sending it in.

I would also like the AT&T firmware because I find some things different on the generic firmware and I would like to test it. I can change firmwares back and forth so it's good to be able to go back. If the OP installed the at&t firmware and didn't like it, he could just go back to generic quite easily.

@tommathy, he is looking for W580i, not W850i, and the latest version is R8BA024.
