XS++ V2.2 Gives you the option of writing a new version variable to the devices GDFS. With this you may change your CDA, enabling you to go from a branded phone to a non branded phone descriptor. You may then flash generic firmware via SEUS.

Below is a step by step guide of the correct way to accomplish this:

A. Attach the Smartphone to XS++
  • Download XS++ V2.2
  • Install Smartphone USB drivers
  • Now Unrar XS++ and run it
  • Check the "Connect Smartphone" check box

You Will now see something like this:
    Posted Image

  • Click "Connect" button
  • Hold down the @ or C key then plug in the usb cable
  • Keep holding until you see - "Master Shutdown...OK"
B. Backup your GDFS with XS++
C. Reconnect your smartphone to XS++
  • Redo Section A

D. Choosing your version change file
  • Click the dropdown combobox from the "Write Smartphone CDA/Version change" area
  • Choose one according to your model and desired region

You will see something like this:
    Posted Image
E. Changing the variable
  • Once you have choosen your desired script from the combobox - press "Run Script"
  • XS++ will begin
  • The process should take no longer than about 1 minute
  • Once completed, XS++ will disconnect your smartphone and take you back to the begining.

You should have something like this:

Now you maybe update your smartphone to the latest generic firmware via SEUS

Enjoy.

lol

ur maaad!!!!
w960 has not been released yet
since db2000
there has been db2010 and db2020 released

what makes u think se will release the w960 as a db2000 phone???

especially when u look at the features of a w960, 3.2pm cam, 8gb internal mem. .....
the w960 will be released as a db3150 (the very latest se technology

all the latest se phones will be db3150 and above
(eg. k850, w960 ect...) thats what most rumours say and it is most likely 2 b true

i would be utterly shocked if you're correct and it is released as a db2000 handset, but one question, how can u be sure its supported before w960 has been released???

its only been released in bulgaria with beta firmware i heard

All current SE smartphones (P990, P1, M600, W910, W950) run on a modified DB2000 platforms, so I'm pretty sure the W960i will be too.

Hey there ... your guide is great but I have one problem.
I Have a Greek Vodafone 990i and the following software versions:
Phone smartphone version: R2D01
Phone software version: CXC162037 R9F011
Processing Unit: CXC162087 R5A03
Bluetooth:
Organizer: CXC162036 R5A16
CDA: CDA162008/27 R7A03

and XS gives me only the three:
P990i_R9F011_R5A01_R5A17_CDA162007_1(GW1)_R5A13.gdfs
P990i_R9F011_R5A01_R5A17_CDA162007_2(GW2)_R5A13.gdfs
P990i_R9G007_R6A04_R6D23_CDA162007_6(HK)_R6D23.gdfs

Will any of these work ???

Hey there me again.
Can somebody tell me if my question can be answered ?
I also have another question.
Maybe I can flash it with the generic script and add the Greek Language after that? Will this enable the menu language to change too ???

Edited to rephrase the question

Well I solved my prob.
Generic World 1 Supports Lotsa languages including UK Eng. Greek and Turkish as far as I remember. So you choose Greek and there you are. Debranded!

Use with caution though.

Nice post.

Hi all, could anyone give me a hand. I de-branded my P1i perfectly no probs at all and can use the latest firmware. But my Dad has a P990 and his firmware is very outdated. SEUS says no update needed but i have checked and theres been 4 since. The CAD is currently on UK generic. I put it xs++ but when connecting i get the following in the log

22:07:41| XS++ v3.1 (Darwin) Ready !
22:07:41| Executed on Microsoft Windows XP
22:08:42| Executing SEMC Smartphone Operations!
22:08:42| Please hold boot key ('@' or 'C') and connect device...
22:09:43| Master Port detected: COM10
22:09:43| Slave Port detected: COM11
22:09:43| Opening Port!
22:09:43| Init Master Failed!

Any ideas whats going on here? Im holding C down but this is all that happens.

EDIT: Fixed the problem a full boot of the phone and a full shutdown then removal of battery fixed it.

I bought an Orange w910i unlocked. Currently using it in the Asia. It is still branded with Orange.

I Want to debrand the phone to the generic w910i formware. I've read a lot of posts and forums but all conversations seem to be between experienced users who know terminology. Is there's a beginner's guide to what the different terms mean?

I have no idea what is DB2000 or DB2020 of DB3150 is. Is this some operating system version?

What is w910i? DB3150 or DB2000? How do I check?

What's GID? Something to do with the firmware or platform? Why is it importnat?

How can I check what the latest firmware for my phone is? Where can I get the latest version of the firmware for my phone? Does SEUS provide? How do I get it?

There seems to be a paid website (DavinciTeam) that offers debranding. But it looks like it can be done for free with XS++ too. But again, the instructions are a little advanced so a little beginner's help would be really appreciated. Is XS++ the only way to do it? Does it work on all SE phones? How can one check what it supports?

Anything else I need to know?

Thanks.

Hi, I am all very new to this. I have a Sony Ericsson w960i which I cannot upgrade. From what I read it might be a "prototype" phone. Unfotunately the method above did not work for me.

Unfortunately I get an error when I press "Run script". The error messages are:
23:39:04| A Brown Smartphone? Joking?
23:39:04| Error: Failed to send CSLoader!
I tried it using XS++ version 3.1. Is that OK, or does it have to be 2.2 like in the original post? I have added the full log below. As you can see it says the platform is DB2001
