Aloha,

I'm new to all this firmware flashing etc. My phone is a K810i. I love it, but some points are disappointing though.

Let's start with the SMS storage. I've got 14 SMS in the saved messages folder and everytime I want to move a SMS from the inbox to the saved messages it says "Too many messages on SIM card. Delete some to free up space. Delete now?"
I just don't get it, I've got 72MB of free space on the phone and 1871MB of free space on the memory stick (San Disk 2GB). Where's the problem in adding an option to directly save the SMS on the cell phone or memory stick?

Next thing is the actual writing with the phone. I really appreciate the way how SMS are written, but everytime I want to write something in spanish, for example "levántarte" it just removes the "´" from the "a". An errormessage(?) appears, but I can't read it because the phone is suggesting some other words. The national chars. option is on of course, without there are only "`" but even with the option turned on, there is no "ó" and no "é" either.

Also I don't know why the phones languages are "Cestina, German, English, Nederlands, Polski and Türkce". I mean, I'm from Germany. Why isn't there spanish? Even my old Nokia N6230 had spanish... I'm curious about what SE was thinking.

What's disappointing too is the max. speaker volume, a friend of mine got a white SE walkman phone and the phones volume is incredible loud O_o'
I tried to higher the volume of the MP3 files with the Nero Wave Editor (don't laugh ~_~') but there no bit difference.


I'd like to know if I can change the SMS storage thingy and the SMS writing thingy. Is it possible to add spanish as language? Is it possible to higher the volume of the speaker without having the annoying whoosh while playing a MP3 file.

I read something about walkman firmware etc. But like I said, I'm really totally new to all kinds of flashing etc. What's with my warrenty? I'm sure I'll lose it. Am I right?

Is it possible to add spanish as language?
that's possible changing the customize.xml file, look for customization file(CDA) and select one with spanish languajes(I think america 2 is good), also you can add languages editing the customize.xml archive
Is it possible to higher the volume of the speaker without having the annoying whoosh while playing a MP3 file.
K mobile phones, are designed to take very good pictures, W(alkman) are for better sound experience, you can add other acoustic drivers, or convert your k phone into a W.phone (i think that's not possible yet)

to change customize.xml, you can use (and I suggest you that) setool lite v1.08(newest version)
xml files can be edited with notepad in window$ and gedit in linux

firmwares for k810 are

R1KC001_RED52
R1KD002_RED52
R1KG001_RED52
R6BC002_RED52

Thanks mate. And what are the pros and cons of the firmwares? What does red mean?

brown and red, are somethin as alfa and beta in programs version
nothing more

and firmware upgrade is higher speed, more stability, always is better to change firmware for one newer
the only "contra" is that vkp patches are for a unique firmware

for example, most of the w810 patches are for R4EA031 FW version, but it's not the newest

Hy.

Here are some answers to your questions :

1.SMS storage limit, on a tutorial on how to remove the limit look HERE
2.HERE is a tutorial on how to add any language to any firmware
3. for speaker volum install one of the custom "accoustics" (or at least put one of the W acoustics drivers), you'll find a lot of tutorials and accoustics in the forums, most K and W accoustics are "interchangeble" so you can use whichever you want. BTW, there's no such thing as "best audio driver", it's up to you to decide which one you like most (some people like it to be as loud as possible, others like to have "soft sound", so for everyone a different driver is "perfect", or at least near perfect )
4. warranty : you do loose the warranty if you put a different firmware, but there's a trick
- if you put back the same exact firmware as you had originally (so you better write down what firmware you have now) then the people from the service can't tell that you have moded the phone, so you'll get back the warranty. Just don't forget to put back the firmware you had before you go to the service

Here are a few tutorials that might help you out :
1. First, you'll want to save every file from the phone, use THIS tutorial for that.
2. i know you already have a K810, but this tutorial is usefull as it shows how to apply a firmware (it's the same for K800 and K810 phones, only the firmware used will be different)
3. there are a lot of other usefull posts in the FIRMWARE section of this forum, read as much as you can, it will help you a lot (read even those that are not k810 related, for example those that are for K800 or W8xx, as many things from there can be used on the k810 too).

you can brick your phone, but if you make a GDFS backup(with READ GDFS command in setool) you shuldn't worry about it
