My phone is K790a CID52. GDFS backup is not available in XS++ and when I try it using setool2lite, it just sits forever without backing anything up. Also, whenever I try to upgrade my EROM to the latest version.. I get an error. Restart the phone, and under EROM version its still the old one. Please help.

Well I figured out how to do the GDFS backup so scratch that. But I'm still not sure about upgrading my EROM. Could someone please explain how I can do that? Thanks.

Even though XS++ says it successfully flashed the EROM, it reports the old EROM version! ARGH!

I'm assuming that EROM version is the original and that it does not get changed? The FOTA version is the newer.

have you tried upgrading it with wotan? it's free just erase login and pass(leave it blank), push start and connect your phone pushing 2 and 5 , not "c"

Does that require a service cable? And are there any benefits to upgrading the erom?

It doesn't require a service cable, just DCU-60.
The K610 had a extremely buggy EROM version. The phone died when you removed the battery very soon after turning the phone off. You should upgrade your EROm if you've got K610. I don't know about advantages when upgrading the EROM of other phones.

I tried this, but for some reason the phones not detected. And yes the drivers are installed.

Some older EROM (R3A011) has bug and in certain condition it can leave your phone dead or WSOD on startup (especially if the phone batt died on itself and when changing SIM card). R3A016 is much better but there is even bewer R3A022 but no one seems want to offer it.

Yes it is very save to upgrade EROM. Just make sure your computer is on UPS and not shutting down in the middle as process (as always).

i made a blooper with my sony ericsson k750...i made it w800 but with wrong cid..my phone is cid 36 and i flashed it with cid 49...it worked for about a week....now when i try to start it..i select the start phone option..i enter my pin an it sais '' configuration error. please contact your network operatoe..or service center.....i can still receive calls and messages...but i can't use anything in my phnoe...i can't acces the menu...please help...somone said to me that i should erase both main and fs flash.....how do i do this..please someone answer

did you try reflashing your main + fs with CID 36 main and fs? and don't forget to customize after flashing.
