So Yeah For Anyone That Is Planning To Or Wants To Flash They're K550i To Make It Into A W610i Youve Come To The Right Place.

Flash at your own risk ! I don't know if this voids your warranty !
many say it does so be carefull!
my idea in that case is flash back to k550i using SEUS

Tools needed

Your phone and the data cable that comes with k550i !!

Windows XP Service Pack2

Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) TO UPDATE YOUR K550 TO CID52:

START :

0: backup all contacts !! ( find a way, there are many ways, if u dont know stop right here this tut is not for u ) yes back up everything in phone..ur ringtones etc.etc

1. First upadate your phone via SEUS.
Reason XS++ supports CID52 flashing and SEUS will update your phone to CID52
this is easy just follow the onscreen instructions
dont worry this is absoultely safe and works great ! and this does not void warranty

Flashing Main :

2. Now the real flashing
Turn off your phone. Start XS++ . Select USB
Remove the SIM and Memory Card . Reinsert battery.
Click on connect in XS++ and then holding C ( as in SEUS upadate ) connect your phone to the USB cable ( with in 30 seconds )
it gets detected then release the C key
The left screen will display your phone details including your firmware version and EROM CID which should be CID52. OTP CID should be 51.

now in configuration, select flash. In the new screen, check on Flash Main Firmware Click ‘…’ and select the frmware file

W610_R6BC002_MAIN_GENERIC_NA_RED52.mbn
( keep other options unchecked)

hit the flash button and relax !! it will show finished after loading
when done Exit XS++ and disconnect phone

well u can now start your phone no problems( insert sim first)...it will start
now again plzz shut down and remove sim

Now Flashing FS:

now restart XS++...reinsert battery...remove sim
connect the phone ( usual method holding c key etc ect )

now select this FS 'K550_R6BC002_FS_CENT_EUROPE_RED52.fbn'
( unrar it first of course and get the .fbn file )

check flash FS option !!
keep other option unchecked and hit flash !!
after its done just restart xs++ and reinsert battery

this time u can't start u r phone u will get an error

now finally customization

connect phone ( usual process )
unzip the customization pack

you will find a folder named "tpa" in it

now in xs++ directory on PC, in the directory where u have xs++.exe create a new folder named "own_custpack"

copy the "tpa" folder into this "own_custpack" folder the path of custom files should be like own_custpack/tpa/preset/custom...

open xs++ and connect fone check only customize file system


now goto settings and select BreakXS ( important )

go back to FLASH

now under fone model select 'Own Custpack'
under CDA and Region, select '/own_custpack'

now hit flash...

now in few minutes custom files will be added to your phone and done

Start your phone wait for some time !!

and some other member gave clear instructions ... some of them u posted here

dont u fink it would be nice if u could give other people SOME OF THE credit

Is it necessary to flash the FS also ?...... won't the flashing the W610i MAIN do ?
If flashing the FS is Necesssary ... then can we use any customisation files with any FS ....(I only need English LAng)

Yeah i think flashing the main will be enough and when i flashed mine i checked if it wouold work with only the main done and it did
but well i dont know a huge amount about it really so you could try.

coz in k610@w660 there are some bugs

but what will happen if i will only flash the MAIN (W660i) in to k610i and leave the original FS and Cust in my phone? does this helps eliminates annoying bugs?

Im not too sure what happens if you flash the main, i know it definately works and everything but why not just flash it all ?
and this tutorial is the safer way of doing it by flashing it with k550i Fs so you really do get a Walkman Cypershot phone
And ive had no bugs and its been flashed for just over two weeks and ive bombarded it with flash menus ( tutorial coming soon )

Nice tutorial. I was just wondering why do you suggest to use FS of K550i. I flashed my phone using FS of W610i and it seems just fine. What is the difference?

By flashing W610 main and K550 FS the phone will say "Cybershot" instead of "Camera" but this is not true. As soon as you flash W610 main you lose the cybershot camera and get the ordinary camera. This is proven easily, click the camera app. and you will notice that as the app. starts up it no longer Cybershot...

For consistency, one is probably better flashing W610 Main and FS (like you did!). By not flashing W610 FS you won't get the default flash themes and if I remember correctly flash desktop won't work at all...[needs verifying]

i had to learn it and get confidence from mr.v on this forum and prada too helped it... had to confirm and find out from many ppl coz i don't want to get in trouble

It works by going to the menu but if you open the lens cover the camera will no longer automatically start up..

camera's active shutter becomes inactive after flashing with w610i MAIN !!!

means when u open ur camera shutter k550i would automatically start the viewfinder
but now u hv to manually press the camera button or start from main menu !!!

if u flash only main still walkman 2 will work fine and great !!! even megabass willl work good
u wont get walkman skins that's all !

but then u will hv k550i show in status

what i say is flash it completely to w610i coz no difference in camera drivers that's y
i hv extracted the dirvers from both k550i and w610i FS and checked them ! not even a single character difference !!
ok i got their drivers from latest FS R1B6001 of k550i and w610i
may be there is difference in drivers in older FS!

completely agree with aks_win! if u flash the fs of w610, u get 3 awesome rocking flash themes frm SE that will show u song info in standby on wallpaper! the cm is xactly the same n if u want a faster way of starting it, i recommend u edit the shortcut of up navig key {which was previosly bound to media player in k550 frmware}, toi camera! AND OF COURSE WALKMAN 2.0 ROKZ!
