I have a K700i which I am going to replace the screen on as a little 'project' of mine. This isn't the problem, the problem is the joystick can be a bit unresponsive, especially going down or right. The phone seems to have had a fairly hard life and use. It is still the same in the service menu. I've had the phone apart and given the internals a good clean (including round the joystick) and it's still more or less the same.

Firstly, has anyone tried this WD40 trick? I've heard that carefully putting WD-40 into the joystick area helps loosen things up and makes the joystick more responsive and gives it a new lease of life. Does it work? Does anyone know if it will damage the phone at all in any way? I'd be very careful not to get the WD-40 anywhere else on the PCB.

Also, I've heard of a trick of putting foil or something into the plastic removeable part of the joystick to 'build' it up so it sits slightly higher and exert slightly more pressure on the joystick mechanism actually work or make a difference?

Anything else I could do, apart from get the joystick replaced, which is beyond my skills, and the phone is out of warranty (and bought secondhand off Ebay, no reciept anyway)

Any other suggestions welcome!
