So I patched my w810i with move_camera_to_other and move_acoustics_to_other. When I booted up my phone, I realized that the \drv\ folders weren't moved to the \other\ directory, as described in the vkp. Understandably, the camera didn't work (I didn't try music playback but the results would've probably been the same).

So I manually created the \cam\ and \ac\ folders under \other\drv\, and manually placed the drivers in there. And it works now.

What I'm wondering now is whether my \ifs\ still contains redundant copies of my camdriver0.dat and acoustic drivers. How does the patch work exactly -- do they move the drivers to the new location, or do they simply change the firmware pointers from one address to another (from \ifs\ to \other\)? if the latter is the case I'd imagine there are redundant drivers in my phone.

The other concern now is how would I go about accessing the \ifs\ to delete the redundant copies, WITHOUT having to flash main again? If I use the non-bruteforce method, the last step requires me to reflash my main -- but that would kill all the patches I've applied on my phone.

And an aside -- I tried the move_layout_to_card and move_flash_to_card, but my phone's menus wouldn't display -- i was essentially flying blind, and the only way to save it was to reflash main. Am I suppose to manually create the menu directories in the card, and have menu files on them, before I patch the phone with those patches?

How the patch work, actually by changing the code in the firmware, so it will be diverted to the new path. So, no need to delete your camera, acoustic, or any files that u wish to diverted from the original location. And yes, u got to place the files that is diverted into the new path (especially for the layout and customize.xml, before patching, otherwise you'll get an error).

If u need to play with FAR, after u finish using FAR, just flash the REST file and the patch will still intact. No need to reflash the whole main. And u need to use the correct REST file according to your main firmware.

So if what you said is true, if I use FAR to go into \ifs\, I shouldn't be able to find a camdriver0.dat, because the patch would've "deleted" it right?

As for the REST file -- I've heard that term thrown around a few times here, but I don't know how to use it. Lets say I flashed with den_po's breakloader, did my thing in FAR, and needed to reflash -- how do I reflash with a REST?

please note: the patches WON'T move or delete all your existent files.
you have to move them MANUALLY to the new folder.

Yup, as mr stuck said, the patch wont do nothing with your old driver. You can choose to use XS or setool2 lite to flash the REST file. In XS, just add the REST file into the main firmware box and press flash. In setool2 lite, add the REST file into the REST box, and press flash.
