sorry if this has been answered previously, but i've searched the forums for a while now and came up with nothing. I currently want to upgrade/degrade my phone firmware from R4ED001 CHINA to R4EA031 CHINA so i can use the patches. but i was wondering if i use XS++ to flash the MAIN only or FS + MAIN or just FS..

and do i need a matching MAIN and FS? like can i use the main from china and use fs from else where?

You can just upgrade the main (that's what SEUS does) and it is possible to mix main and FS, but some don't work too well together.

I´ve upgraded my W810i to R4EK001 and then i´ve downgraded it to R4EA031.

Works with no problems.

Depend on what u need. Main firmware need certain FS in order to work properly, example : U need to use R4ED001 FS if u want to use R4EA031 main. So, flash what u need, the main, or main + FS. No, u dont need to match the main with the FS. I've try the china, then change it to generic, and there's no problem at all. But if u want to use patches, u must use the generic, coz there is no patches written yet for the china version.

This is done manually! right? You can't downgrade with SEUS!

oh... thx thx.. but currently when i plug in XS++ it tells me i have R4ED001 CHINA firmware, so does that mean if I flash my MAIN with a R4EA031 GENERIC then I can patch my phone? and do i need to finalize it? but will it loose its functions to read chinese? cause most of my mp3s are chinese... hehe...

You dont need to finalise if you flash the generic MAIN. However, it wont display everything in Chinese. Lol you'll have to decide whats more important, patching your phone or having everything in Cinese language .

R4ED001 is the FS firmware. Just flash the main with R4EA031. And, as TVH says, u'll lose your chinese language support. Decide it your self, patch or language that u desire.

i was also wondering if i reformat my main, will i loose all my data? like the hammer certificate (java restriction thingie) and my phone contacts and the programs on it and custom sound files and etc... will it?

no, those files and data it's stored on FileSystem (FS)
if only you flash MAIN, you will not lose any files or data. just patches or something you modified on the main.
