Because lots of people have been asking me on how to perform this trick i made this tutorial in wich i'll explain it to you in steps:

1. Get cmz_config.xml from your firmware (it depends on your firmware)
2. Modify it like this:

...........
...........
<protocol name="MR settings">
<parse-mask>s</parse-mask>
<cmz-mode>0x9a</cmz-mode>
- <!-- CMZ_Mode_Settings | CMZ_Mode_ResetSettings | CMZ_Mode_DDM | CMZ_Mode_Init
-->
<use-old-cust>true</use-old-cust>
<parse-file mode="mandatory">/tpa/user/other/default.xml</parse-file>
<cmz-mode>0x89</cmz-mode>
- <!-- CMZ_Mode_Settings | CMZ_Mode_ResetSettings | CMZ_Mode_CMZ
-->
<use-old-cust>true</use-old-cust>
<parse-file mode="mandatory">/tpa/preset/custom/customize.xml</parse-file>
</protocol>
- <protocol name="upgrade">
<parse-mask>u</parse-mask>
<cmz-mode>0x2e2</cmz-mode>
- <!-- CMZ_Mode_DDM | CMZ_Mode_All | CMZ_Mode_Upgrade | CMZ_Mode_Settings | CMZ_Mode_FirstStartup
-->
<use-old-cust>true</use-old-cust>
<parse-file mode="mandatory">/tpa/user/other/default_upgrade.xml</parse-file>
<cmz-mode>0x2e1</cmz-mode>
- <!-- CMZ_Mode_CMZ | CMZ_Mode_All | CMZ_Mode_Upgrade | CMZ_Mode_Settings | CMZ_Mode_FirstStartup
-->
<use-old-cust>true</use-old-cust>
<parse-file>/tpa/preset/custom/customize_upgrade.xml</parse-file>
</protocol>
</cmz-config>
</customization>

(See attachment for modified cmz_config.xml for k610)

3. Upload it back to \tpa\preset\default (thru bruteforceing - Last time)

4. Create a default.xml file in your phone memory in other...(upload it with bluetooth,IR,usb cable like a normal image/song/file etc.)

5.Edit the default.xml like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<customization>
 <file-operations>
  <file-op parse-mask="fa" op="copy" source="tpa/user/other/menu.ml" dest="tpa/preset/system/menu/menu.ml" />
 </file-operations>
</customization>

in this example i used the default.xml file to copy the menu.ml file from tpa/user/other to tpa/preset/system/menu

Note: a) The path to the "Other" folder is tpa/user/other for "K" series
usb/other for "W" series

b) For more File operations download the XML Generator from attachment.

6. Upload the files that you want to upload to FS into the path that you specified in Source in the default.xml file (in this case other folder)

7. Go to Settings->General->Master Restet-> Reset Settings.
After the phone resets your files will be uploaded to the desired location.

8. Thanks Ego (for sharing us this way to skip BruteForce), Stonos (for the XMLSourceGenerator) and all other SE-NSE Members for testing this hack.

Many thanks for the tutorial, now i think i understand all the process! ^-^ But i have a few more questions. How i get the right cmz for my firmware? with SEFStool4? i runned the program and got the file: K610_R1GB001_FS_EUROPE_1_RED51.raw. What should i do with it? And how i get the cmz file? :confused: One more thing, my cid is 51 so i cant use XS++, is Davinci recommended?

sticky?

@increatul
thank-you for tidying this up... bruteforce was ever so painful!!

edit: :doh: don't click "reset all" - it deletes the files before the phone parses the xml file

you make big mistake increatul
path to other is
usb/other in k790/k800/k810 only
tpa/user/other for all other phones, both K and W series (not sure for newer phones though)
card/other for memory card :)

now I have few questions:
how to use chmod operation? using standard chmod commands (766,777, etc.) or there are some specific (read-only etc.)?
if I make cmz_config.xml read-only would seus change it while making update?

Ok I'm having some trouble getting this to work on my

</cmz-config>
</customization>

this was the org file I extracted from the fs _K790_R1EG001_FS_AMERICA_2_RED49 with the modifications needed. Opened up XS++ clicked start got connected to my phone,selected customize file system,brutexs,select cda, America_1(CDA102535/301) went to the FSX option and clicked start fsx, it ran through about 179K responses and said that it was creating subdirs and uploading the cmz_config file.
I then place the default.xml and the default_upgrade.xml in the usb\other on the phone.
default_upgrade.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<customization>
<file-operations>
<file-op parse-mask="fa" op="copy" source="tpa/preset/system/menu/menu.ml" dest="usb/other/menu.ml" />
</file-operations>
</customization>
Shouldn't this copy the menu.ml file from the phone source and write it to the usb source, or have I done something wrong here?

@ mariik Thanks for corecting..unfortunatly there's a bug in the forum and i can't edit my first post :((

@ jpitts2 you shouldn't have customized your phone (btw you customized it with america_1 your's is America_2 :p )...just do FSX...anyway i don't think that's the problem...You just have to upload default.xml and edit it like you edited the default_upgrade.xml then do a reset of settings...if that doesn't work try changing usb/other to tpa/user/other...(both in cmz_config.xml and in the default.xml)

My phone has america_1 ,but I could only find the america_2 firmware to extract the cmz_config.xml file from.
I thought on the k790a you did not have to master reset it order to get it to read the default_upgrade.xml only reboot the phone.

Strange, I extracted my w810 firmware, and found no cmz_config.xml in it.

Can some upload one for me?

copy source is where the files are that you want to be copied ie. your options folder

i have a problem i used http://forums.se-nse...bruteforce+hack but i couldnt work out how to use it (my fone is cid49 anyways)
