Gizmodo have presented a list of features the iPhone lacks.

• Songs as Ringtones
• Games
• Any flash support
• Instant Messaging
• Picture messages (MMS)
• Video recording
• Voice recognition or voice dialing
• Wireless Bluetooth Stereo Streaming (A2DP)
• One-size-fits-all headset jack (May have to buy an adapter for certain headphones)
• 3G (EV-DO/HSDPA)
• GPS
• A real keyboard
• Removable battery
• Expandable Storage
• Direct iTunes Music Store Access (Over Wi-Fi or EDGE)

Engadget has it's own list, which covers some of the above points. In addition to the above:

• No ability to cut, copy or paste text
  
• Excel, PDF and Word files are read only, there is no editing support
  
• There is no Adobe flash support or support for any other type of embedded video
  
• Contact lists can't be e-mailed as contact groups.

MR comments below that the iPhone also lacks the following features:

The iphone is crap

By time the iPhone makes it to Europe I'll bet many of them will be fixed.

The biggest annoyances to me are the ringtones, im and cut/pasting the text.

Lack of video recording (and the proposed charging for use of mp3 ringtones) is very silly. But I forgot, this is Apple!

Well the European iPhone will be 3G, but say goodbye to half the battery life

Apart from that I don't think there will be any other changes. If Apple have their heads screwed on then there should be quite a few firmware updates as at least some of the features are fixable.

I would hope that Apple would learn from the iPhone as it currently stands and update the American version (and include in the European version from the beginning) to support MMS, etc. Some of the omissions seem to be rather 'simple' things and one wonders why they were left out at all.

Does make you wonder how out of date this will be by the time it does hit Europe offers very little more than say a k750i flashed to w800i when you also look at its cost you truly are paying for the name.

I think it is unfair to say it has little more than a W800i but the missing features will be a major disadvantage IF the general public get to know about them before they get carried away with the inevitable hype
