With a service cable you are able to debrand (it's possible with a DCU-60 too) and to kick the lock of your handy (but you need credits).
I know you can use it with
- 1: F500i, K300, K500i, K700i, S700i, T68i, T290, T610, T630, V800, Z500, Z800, Z1010, etc.
- 2: D750i, K510i, K750i, W550i, W600i, W700i, W800i, W810i, W900i, etc.

A K800i should be possible

Service cable is not really a necessity, but sometime soon you will need one! If you accidentally killed your phone!
But if you have trust with a certain repair center, no need of buying!

Probably with all models phones that has fast port connection (12 pins DCU60 USB type)! It will only depend on the kind of software you will use (supporting service cable and variety of phone models).

Yes! But there are some without the external battery connectors. It is called selfpowered cables. But they have the same purpose!
Wally_Dog
Then if it is self-powered, couldn't you just use a DCU-60 Cable???
eyeyousee
No, you cannot use DCU60 as a service cable! But a service cable can be use as like DCU60 does!
Service cable has a special chip that can read dead phones!

Thanks mate. I did it last night and now I don't have to lug around my 2 batteries. thumbsup.gif

I did not know how close the pin 8 and 10 is at the back of the connector so I just dropped a bit of solder lead on it and voila, shorted. No more batteries forever.

I wrapped a peace of copper wire around pin 8 and 10, its verry easy because the are close to eachother.
succest you do that to because you can always undo it, thinking about warranty void and stuff.

There some apparatus (spell check pls!) or tools to copy rom or eprom, usually use for industrial machines!, that definitely can copy that chip!

I did some experiment before with my PC mainboard BIOS chip! I accidentally flash a wrong bios upgrade file! Eventually, my PC died, so what I did, I bought a second hand main board with the same BIOS chip size (32 pins I think) which is socket type (dettachable), so I use my spare PC (dismantled everything) and I flashed the correct BIOS file to the 2nd hand mainboard. Then, took the bios chip and put it in my dead PC.... and it works!

But with service cable this is not applicable!
