I am thinking of rebranding my phone. I've read through various tutorials and feel prepared to do it. The only thing that holds me back is couple of questions i would like to ask,

a) before debranding my phone;

- Backup;
1) I know that using MyPhoneExplorer, contacts, pictures, music/video files can be backed up to PC or at least an M2 Card. How about applications and games? Can they be backed up too? I really like the bundled games and apps available on my phone currently, and would like to have them once i debrand my phone. Is that possible? If yes, what software should i use?

2) About FS & MAIN and/or GDFS. Can they be backed up too? I just want to prepare for the worst. And in the event i need my phone for servicing, i need to rebrand my phone to my first firmware because i am currently under warranty. Again, if this is doable, what software should do it? If not, i understand there's certain method to rebrand it. (by CDA + SEUS trick)

b) after debranding;

- Patching;
I believe my phone, C901, is an A2, db3210 CID 53 phone. Say i want to patch my phone with some .vkp files. Must i change it from red to brown? What are the patches i can apply without changing my phone colour?

Other question

- can A2uploader be used to read/write files inside my phone? And can it modify files on my phone, such as delete/replace/rename?
- What is the different between the term unlocking and debranding? And between GDFS and FS?

That's all i have in mind. Hope this is not too much. I truly apologize if my post annoys anybody, but as you can see i'm a noob and a first timer in debranding/flashing phones. So bear with me please. Oh, and THANK YOU in advance to whoever reply to this post! Have a nice day!

With CID 53 there is no free way of changing colour so therefore you can't patch. You need brown to patch.

Unlocking is when you can have any SIM from any network inserted in your phone and they can all work. If the phone is locked to a particular network, other SIMs from that network will not work.

Debranding is something completely different. It's when your phone's firmware is covered in splash screens, hooks, themes, etc. from your network provider. When you debrand, you remove all of this nonse-nse and leave the original look.

GDFS I'm not really sure what it is, but it's not the same as FS. AFAIK is that it is needed as a backed up thing regularly before flashing, patching...etc.

FS is the entire file system in your phone, containing your personal files as well as the system files that the phone run everthing from. You can flash your FS which replaces the whole FS with another version or phones' FS.

Actually, I cant see any patches for c901 on this site (that doesnt mean that they dont exist though) Try searching for some with google.

No patching unless brown? Are you forgetting about jpatcher?

GDFS: you cant back up (well, not for free anyway), but the a2 platform GDFS is (supposedly) very hard to break anyway

Regarding changing color, what about permanent patching? What does that mean exactly? What i understand is is converts your phone color from red to brown right? Say, i want to use .vkp patches to patch my phone. I can't do that unless i change my phone's color right? Because i've found some .vkp patches on Topsony.

And about jjpatcher, i've search about it before and I think it's not exactly a safe way of patching, so i think i'll pass on that.
